brown2005
Hi, I was just wondering if there is a better image type to use and why?
Orio
Totally depends on what you are looking for. JPG for an example, has a small size. GIF/PNG are good if you are using pictures that don't have alot of colors in them or transparency. BMP is good if you need to keep the exact colors but you don't care about size. Every format has it's ups and downs. The question is- what are you looking for? Orio.
jcombs_31
I use JPG for photos and gradients, GIF for 2-5 color images and buttons, PNG for transparency. I don't think there is any need to ever use BMP.
neylitalo
Although all "non-Free" patents on technology in use in GIF and JPEG have expired in the major areas of the world (USA, Canada, Japan, EU, and possibly others), I have continued to use PNG for all of my images. It works quite well for high-quality images as well as small file sizes.
Daniel0
[PNG] works quite well for high-quality images as well as small file sizes. Except in IE.
neylitalo
[PNG] works quite well for high-quality images as well as small file sizes. Except in IE. Point conceded. I grow weary of IE 6. (Any IE, for that matter.)
fenway
It's just alpha-transparency that's an IE issue.
Daniel0
That's a pretty big issue IMO.
