Firefox and Opera render the color correct, but in IE6 and plus (I don't know about IE8 beta), the background color doesn't match the background image. dbrimlow Posted March 16, 2008 Share Posted March 16, 2008 Yeah, IE6 is dodgy when trying to match colors with images .. and most particularly with png images! Even simple web colors can not match an image using the same colors. I've had many frustrating hours due to this. Wuhtzu Posted March 17, 2008 Share Posted March 17, 2008 Most of the time, for me, this turns out to be a problem with the PNG image. What software are you using to produce them - photoshop? I have problems making photoshop "export" files properly as PNG, the colors always get slightly altered. So I use GIMP instead - create the image I need in photoshop save it as a .psd open it in gimp export it as a .png from gimp Check this "color test" out: http://wuhtzu.dk/sandbox/colortest/colortest.html For me I can see color difference between the centered image and the surrounding background color in IE7 and IE6, not in FF.
