  3. Hi Been struggling to find a way to automatically go to the top of the page after the php contact form is executed, when the success message is displayed. Probhlem I have is that the form is quite long and when it is filled in the success or failure message is not fully seen as it displays at the top.   4. this is tricky to explain: I have a raw php script, written by someone else, that sends an email to a list extracted from a CSV file. I'd like to build a form that would a) edit these values/strings on the fly and then b) call the file in the browser. The thing is, it's been a while since I've messed with PHP forms to any extent, and I can't remember how to get started on something like this. And I'm not familiar at all with fopen and fwrite to edit strings like this without messing up the existing code (there's a lot of other code in the file that needs to be left alone, obviously). I'm hoping someone can help me with a starting point - an idea on how to get this thing going - whether to build the form right in the same file or to build one in another file that posts these values to this existing file... hopefully someone can understand what I'm asking, and thank you much for your help. regards, glenn
  5. Hi again folks, I have a single Form which allows user to create a new Gift Voucher record. It is split into 3 input areas Voucher Details, Payment Details and Delivery Details. I want to add a button on the Payment details section which when activated will copy some of the entered fields from the Payment section to some of the fields in the Delivery section as follows: - FROM PAYMENT SECTION TO DELIVERY SECTION PurchaserName DeliveryName PAddressLine1 DAddressLine1 PAddressLine2 DAddressLine2 PCounty DCounty PPostCode DPostCode I am using a Code Building product called PHP Runner which when you add a button gives you a properties widget as per attachment in which to place your bespoke code.   7. Say I have 2 tables. Table 1: Type(type_id, type_name) Table 2: Records(record_id, record_name, record_type) Under the "record_type" column, is it better to use type_id(eg. 10) or type_name(eg. Clothing & Watches)? If the answer is use the name, is it better to use the original name(Clothing & Watches) or a slug name(clothing-watches)?

My sign in code called activation is the script called activation.php. my login page is login.php and my profile page is the landing page once a successful login in attempt is made. the activation.php is the issue as i us the form in sign.php to login but the activation.php doesn't redirect me to the sign in page once a fail attempt is made or it doesn't redirect me to my profile page once a successful login in attempt is made.   10. This is so strange. I have this bit of code that removes the .php extension from pages so that I can visit any page without typing .php at the end. RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME}.php -f RewriteRule ^(.*)$ $1.php [L] The above code has always worked for me before. But for some reason today it stopped working on localhost and the live server(ipage hosting). Do you know why that might be?
  11. I'm using WordPress and Tribe's Event Calendar and Event ticket plus plugins. Their website is http://theeventscalendar.co.uk. I've been using their forums but it's taking a while to sort this out, so though someone on here might be able to help. I've got an array that I need to echo out part of. Inside each key (0, 1, 2, 3 and so on) there are numerous parts like ["ID"], ["name"] and so on. I want to echo out the ["name"] part of the key. I have a var dump for 10 keys in the array, each of which have their own ["name"] set. In the situation I'm using it, it will always have just 1 in the array, so I can target the first key in the array. Any ideas please on how to echo the ["name"] part? I have the following in a form that edits values already put into a dbase. $alev = array(1 => '1', 2 => '2', 3 => '3', 4 => '4', 5 => '5', 6 => 'AP'); $dblev = explode(',',$row['hw_lev']); foreach ($alev as $key => $lev){ if(in_array($lev,$dblev)){ echo "<input type='checkbox' name='ud_lev[]' value='$lev' checked> $lev"; } else { echo "<input type='checkbox' name='ud_lev[]' value='$lev'> $lev"; } When I attempt to edit the dbase values, the following occurs: When I select the "A" checkbox, it is input into the database and reflects in the results. When I attempt to edit this, the "A" box is checked and all is well. When I select anything else AND "A" ("1", "A"), it is input into the database and reflects in the results. When I attempt to edit this, the "1" box is checked but the "A" box is NOT checked. This is what I need. I feel like the problem is with the array? But it could be the loop.. Probably something totally staring me in the face. You know how it goes. I was wondering if you see a problem in the array or in the loop. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

  14. Hi all, I have just put together a tentative proof of concept MVC framework proposal. After many weeks of slogging through an array of PHP MVC tutorials and courses (some of which I paid for) I have decided to strip back all the frills, bells and whistles to try and put together a core proof of concept that uses best practices. In this simplified example I am trying to test the viability of the framework itself... so there is no routing code or query string management and the controller and action are hard coded. I can't see any glaring issues at them moment. Some questions in the back of my mind are: Are there any dangers in heavily depending on the parent::__construct() function to call parent classes? In the controller, is passing data from Model to View using $this->_view->foo = $this->_model->getBar(); good practice? Are there any dangers in using Namespaces? I am also interested in reading up on MVC framework best practices so if anyone can recommend some resources I would be very grateful. It seems like there are a million ways to write an MVC framework, I am confused as to which way is best practice. EDIT: Hmm, can't seem to get a list to display here...
  15. Question 1. I have a form and on submit it redirects to another site. Is it possible to open that site in a new tab instead of the same page? Is it possible to have a extend popup to another site using a unique link? Take the above google link for example.   16. I am using this https://github.com/ircmaxell/password_compat I have no problem using it on a local server. But as soon as I test it on a live server, it gives me an error like this. Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '{' in /home/public_html/sub/snippets/password.php on line 19 The error is on the same line as the beginning of the code in that library. Why is this happening?

  18. Hi everyone, I have been working through various tutorials over the past couple of months and am currently trying understand PHP frameworks. One of the ways I am doing this is by trying to design my own very simple MVC framework from scratch. I am trying to re-factor an application (which I have already built using spaghetti procedural PHP). This application has a front end for teachers and a back-end for the administrators. I would like to separate concerns and have URL's like this http://example.com/{module}/{controller}/{method}/{param-1}/{param-2} Now the MVC framework I have cobbled together up to this point does not handle routing for 'modules' (I apologise if this is not the correct terminology), only the controller/method/params. So I have separated the public_html from the app logic and inside of the /app/ folder I have specified two folders, my default "learn module" and the "admin module" so that the directory tree looks like this: Apparently this design pattern is a "H"MVC?   21. So I have a code that is suppose to save form sessions and then redirect to another website. It does redirect but the sessions are never saved when I go back to my site. And yes, I do have session_start() at the very top of the page. And also, the sessions do get saved on locahost server but not live server. Do you know why this is happening?
