dan_t
I wasn't really sure where to ask this question. If I have a site (not online) or a page, and wanted someone to check it and give advice. How would I go about showing it, with it offline? Thanks Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/136968-viewing-site-offline/ Share on other sites
nrg_alpha
screenshots (or if it small enough, mail them the code and graphics and giude them to put it all in the appopriate folder so that your paths are respected.. and if its php based, obvisouly whoever you are sharing this with will also need to have php installed, as well as mysql (if you site makes use of it), etc...) Adam
Could just sign up for an account with a free web host, upload it there? I don't know any good ones myself but from what I hear there's some really decent ones out there! ILMV
To add to both posts, you could run it on your own PC, search Google for Xampp if you are using PHP. You could then take a screenshot and upload it. If you did want a free hosting service, i used www.freeservers.com many years ago, seemed fine then, just beware of banner ads. Sakesaru
Set up a WAMP server on your machine. Set up the website on said server. Set up a port forward on your router if needs be. Set up HTPassWD http://www.colostate.edu/~ric/htpass.html Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/136968-viewing-site-offline/#findComment-723287 Share on other sites
JasonLewis
For me I think I just had to open something up in WAMP, or make something viewable, then just give the person my IP address. kindoman
Speak to your hosting company about setting up a dev address. If your domain is going to be http://www.domain.com then they will set up an address called http://dev.domain.com. You can upload your site, test it, send the address to anyone that has a net connection and then when everyone is happy get you hosting company to change dev.domain.com to www.domain.com. Daniel0
Note that many ISPs prohibit setting up a publicly accessible server unless you purchase a corporate subscription, which is generally more expensive.
