TheFilmGod
Is it possible to have an email address -> name@sub.domain.com?? Sub domains would be nice, especially if certain website functions are devoted to certain groups of people, such as school districts or businesses. jackpf
You probably could configure your mail server to do so. However, if your website is hosted by a company and you use Cpanel or something of the sort, I don't think it allows you to manage mail for different subdomains... corbin
With email stuff and domain names, it all comes down to DNS records. Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/146285-subdomain-email-address/#findComment-768251 Share on other sites
TheFilmGod
I would probably have to buy a virtually dedicated host, right? I'm currently using share hosting, for cost effective solution. My website isn't really popular (for now) . How would I change my DNS records? Are there any books you would recommend for me that teach you how to utilize php to create email addresses, manage the pop3 server, etc. Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/146285-subdomain-email-address/#findComment-768883 Share on other sites
corbin
It depends on how the registrar with which the name is registered allows you to edit your records. If you control the name server, you often won't need to touch the DNS records. But, if the subdomain resolves to your IP already, you shouldn't need to change anything DNS wise. As for a VPS.... Shouldn't be needed. Shared hosting should allow you to do email with subdomains. It will depend on the host though. Using PHP to create email addresses and so on? It would depend on the email daemon, and that being the case, I doubt there are many books on it.
