yes i think light colours such as php freaks is better to look at its not confusing think about it we do not take in light colours such as light grey or white but we do take in dark colours such as dark green if you have a load of white or grey on a screen we do not take it in as much

But if there is a lot of dark colour it will overload our brain and confuse us which will end in the user leaving.

but as far as the script you're actually trying to open source, the design needs major work. (http://demo.media-script.com/) it looks like its from the early 90's.

lol yeah I know the template does need some work but as far as the functionality goes it seems ok, correct?

will fix that asap, thats a quick fix

Make the urls friendly & also validate the parameters.

instead of:

http://demo.media-script.com/index.php?action=game&id=1316

use

http://demo.media-script.com/games/arena-3/1316

Use a 404 header if  the parameters are modified instead of displaying a valid page i.e

http://demo.media-script.com/index.php?action=gasdasme&id=1316

You could end up with a search engine penalty for having duplicate pages if such links were posted around the internet.

All features that are there are staying and none are being added. I will work on SEO for the next version though and if anyone has any requests or ideas I will try to add those too. I just don't want to add everything at once ya know...

So, so far nobody has found anything wrong with the features that exist?

Seems like most of your containers aren't aligned.

I don't see what you're talking about.. they all seem perfectly aligned to me..

The login, search, and your menu bar look unaligned.

What do you think of this design? I'm not finished with it just yet of course but what do you think so far?

http://test.media-script.com/index.php

It's a warm design, but I just don't get the value of coming back to that site, It's like a mix of a thousand different things. The sections showing the different features are fairly nice if they're updated regularily, But the 'new members' section seems to take the main content below the fold, It's unappealing just seeing new display picture after display picture at the top, Maybe minifying the sizes with a name beside them (in case there are multiple members who join in one day, for example) can be displayed nicely.
