The Little Guy
So, I was looking at my friends site, and it got me thinking... His design his "Web 2.0" but his layout seems like it is from the 90's. I then started to search Google for 90's sites I was wondering what you guys feel fit into the "Web 1.0" in the 90's. Some main things that comes to mind for me is: - Centered content - Times and Times new roman fonts - Animated Gif's What do you have? .josh
I don't really think "web 1.0" was all about the stereotypical cheese... there were (are) plenty of good "web 1.0" sites that did not have those things. That's like saying all cars built in 90's were cheesy and stupid eyesores. Or songs, etc.. The Little Guy
Your right, this isn't an eyesore: http://media.ed.edmunds-media.com/pictures/VEHICLE/1995/Oldsmobile/1690/1995.oldsmobile.ciera.8679-300x189.jpg I would rather have one of those Oldsmobile's in my driveway instead of this Oldsmobile: http://www.automotiveaddicts.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/2010lincolnmkzheadonactionleft01fixedsmall-500.jpg plus I didn't say "All" Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/222607-back-to-the-90s/#findComment-1151289 Share on other sites
Alex
I don't really think "web 1.0" was all about the stereotypical cheese... there were (are) plenty of good "web 1.0" sites that did not have those things. That's like saying all cars built in 90's were cheesy and stupid eyesores. Or songs, etc.. I don't think that's a fair comparison. In the 90s cars were already being mass produced for nearly a century with the rough idea being around for over 3 centuries, whereas the web was just getting off its feet in the 90s. Here's an example of what a car might have looked when it was the same age as the web was in the 90s: http://www.blurtit.com/var/question/q/q1/q17/q172/q1723/q172323_382419_860_car1 Granted all websites in the 90s weren't completely horrendous, but there has certainly been an increase in the look and feel of your average website over the years. .josh
Okay then a car in the 50's or 30's or something. Still, same principle. Point being that there were plenty of well designed sites back in the day, using the tools that were available at the time. RichardRotterdam
Here is another one to add to the cheese list. Flash intros (preferably without the skip intro button and with play again button). Reminds me of this cartoon which is about creating your own cool site http://www.homestarrunner.com/sbemail51.html Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/222607-back-to-the-90s/#findComment-1151545 Share on other sites
