Hi all,

I was thinking to something,...

It would be nice & cool, I think, if we could add a link in our signature, showing our latest important unsolved problem,, like:

*** brrr,, big headache on [linked subject] ***

* many thanks in advance for your help & comments about,, :) *

This way, it would be easier to find users problem's,...

Just a suggestion / an idea,... :)

what about ? & can it be compatible with the forum rules's/chart ?

l8tr,,

What you mean a reputation type thing. I think it'll get a little messy in peoples sigs and isn't really needed.

But there is only one person that can do stuf to the forum and that is phpfreak. Which I dough he may do.

The forums are good as they are.

Hi there,

wildteen88,,

Hmm,... I'm not sure we're talking about the same thing,,

The forums are good as they are. < 200% agree,, ;)

Maybe I wasn't clear enough,, or my english was too bad,... sorry for that,

I try to explain it again,,

I was thinking about the idea to add into our signature, manually, us, users, the most important problem we have currently,...

by example, my updated signature could give:

Sorry for my english,... I do my best, but sometimes,...

1st intention: understand the problem

2nd intention: try to solve it

3rd intention: try to understand how to solve it :)

-------

*** brrr,, big headache on

***

* many thanks in advance for your help & comments about,, :) *

So, that's not something to change in the forums,, just something to change from our side,...

again, it's just an idea,...

Hoping it's more clear,

l8tr,,

As far as I am aware, you can put whatever you like in your sigs, within reason - E.g. no pornographic or obscene images, or links to images and sites of that nature, no bad language or bashing other members etc.

I personaly wouldn't mind it as long as it wasn't in some huge font size, keep it to a line or two in standard sized font. Any other mods care to comment?

Oh, at first I thought you wanted to AUTOMATICALLY have a link to your last unsolved topic placed in your sig... that would probably be a pain to implement, and some people might not want the extra baggage in their sig.

If you want to be dedicated enough to change it when your topic gets solved, and replace it when you get a new problem unsolved, I have no problem with it at all. Just don't forget to remove a link to a solved topic - people might get kinda upset if you have "Please help me - I have a problem in [this topic]" and then they follow the link and it turns out to be solved.

Go for it.

Keep in mind that some of us (me!) have the signatures turned off.  It decreases loading times and I don't have to look at all the garbage people would like me to look at or click on.

i agree... while i don't have the sigs turned off, i very seldom grace the signatures with a second glance. the big banner ones i usually block in firefox anyway, but as far as anything important being in the sigs: go ahead and do it, but i don't know how much response you'll really get from it.

 • 6 months later...

It wouldn't be hard for the forums to show most recent 5 threads started by the user, but would it be useful? In my humble opinion, no. I'm sorry, but I'm not going to change my signature if I ever ask a question. I stay far too busy to worry about forum signatures. Now, would I follow a link to a forum thread to answer a question?...yes, I probably would, but only if it were formatted something like this:

--------------

Unsolved Problem: http://Session Problem on PHP Newbie Help {date}

I don't want to click on it and end up wasting time looking at a topic I am not well versed in myself. The date thing tells me how fresh the link is, if it is 2 months old I can assume that you just haven't changed your signature and it was probably already solved.

Anything you can do to make sure you get the help you need without annoying everyone or breaking forum rules is a great thing, but I can tell you right now personally I would not click on a link to some topic if I didn't know what I was getting into.

This thread is more than a year old. Please don't revive it unless you have something important to add.
