suttercain
I was using PHPNuke (Which sucks) up until a month or so when I purchased a couple PHP books. I am in the process of converting the pages over to my template: http://www.supermandatabase.com No holds barred... Thanks Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/49844-here-goes-nothing/ Share on other sites
clown[NOR]
I must admin that's a good site. The different sections of the site was placed like that (some here and some there), but you fixed that with some bigger headers telling you what each section contained.. IMO it's a good site with lot's of potensial (think that's how it's spelled ) Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/49844-here-goes-nothing/#findComment-244669 Share on other sites
suttercain
Thanks Clown. My first 99% PHP/MySQL driven site. Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/49844-here-goes-nothing/#findComment-244693 Share on other sites
AXiSS
I'll I have to say is I'd like to see some rollover on the nav. Other than that, it looks pretty good. Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/49844-here-goes-nothing/#findComment-244838 Share on other sites
runnerjp
i think that you should center the website because on my 1440x900 screen its all to left and would look much better in middle.... other then that gr8 Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/49844-here-goes-nothing/#findComment-245352 Share on other sites

rcorlew
My suggestion mirrors AXISS, some rollover effect on the nav would be nice. Is this site live and ready, my brother is a Superman freak and I would like to send him a link if it is. SharkBait
I like it. I would personally take out the links that currently go no where and also do a rollover or ever color change (a:hover) with the navigation. I also agree about centering it. Currently on my laptop it looks ok but if I to went over to my desktop my widescreen monitor would make it look a bit odd. 1440x900 is nice Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/49844-here-goes-nothing/#findComment-246969 Share on other sites
boo_lolly
not bad at all bro. i would only advise to have the template throughout the site more consistent. also, to have the forums fall in line with the same template (which is pretty close to what it should be right now). also, regarding the forums, you need to have links back to the main site, as well as rollover links in the navigation bar. other than that i think you did a great job. suttercain
Centered: Check - Just converted all the pages to be centered. I will look into the hovering for the menu bar. Thanks for the feedback. igor berger
From what I see you are using a vbulletin forum that you modified! http://www.supermandatabase.com/forums/showthread.php?t=183&goto=nextnewest Also it is every where in the source code for java script functions. Should you not follow the GNU and display the vbulletin name & trade mark? Do not let this be your cryptonite! But I may be worng. You could have built the template, the forum, and input all the new data in one month. Main vBulletin Javascript Initialization vBulletin_init(); <div class="smallfont" align="center"> <!-- Do not remove this copyright notice --> Powered by vBulletin® Version 3.6.4<br />Copyright ©2000 - 2007, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. <!-- Do not remove this copyright notice --> </div> All this from. http://www.supermandatabase.com/forums/showthread.php?t=183&goto=nextnewest Be a good boy and display the vBulletin trade mark on the bottom! suttercain
Igor, once again you are wrong. The trademark does appear, but do to my color scheme it is in white as is the background. Go ahead and check... Also, GNU is for freeware... vBulletin is not freeware... not when I paid $160.00 for it. http://www.gnu.org/ I really wish you knew something before you say something. igor berger
The trademark does appear, but do to my color scheme it is in white as is the background. So you telling me you can buy Vbulletin, change the color, hide their trade mark - bland it in white, same as your website color - and say you made your PHP website in one moth by reading a few books? Why don't you unhide the trade mark! I do not know the legality of hiding the trade mark, even if you licensing the product. But I do feel it is illegal. You did not build the product, so you cannot clame it to be yours. You only enchanced it! Maybe some senior members can comment on this. igor berger
I like the way he blands all the text of Vbulleten to be white! If you think what you doing is legal and you do not need to display the trade mark, why not just delite the text? Why bland it with your website color? IMAO, I am dealing with a kid! RIP! suttercain
Is it just me or is Igor looking for trouble? You already had your thread closed because you couldn't handle critique, now you try and blast others? PS. Lex Luthor... not Max Luthor. You should stop huffing paint cans. redbullmarky
igor - unless you can come up with some definitive proof, watch your attitude towards others. neither you, I, suttercain or whoever decides to reply to this topic are the software police - and if there's a case of improper/illegal use of software, then we'll deal with it promptly. There's a good chunk of commercial software that licence you to remove the links and/or copyright if required, yet you do not know if suttercain has done this - you've jumped to an accusation. if the copyright message is hidden as a result of being the same colour as the BG, then accept that it may be a design mistake or a perk of paying - do NOT accuse people outright. this is not the first post of random or unrelated splurge i've seen, so please pay more attention to your posts - there are no prizes for postcount, so your posts should either be asking for help or actually helpful. cheers Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/49844-here-goes-nothing/#findComment-247484 Share on other sites
igor berger
You are right. There is no need to accuse or a desire on my part to be a web policeman. All I recommended is to show it if required or delete it if not.
