looking good PHP editor for Ubuntu Linux

As the title says I'm looking for a good text editor for PHP files. I've tried Vim but it's too cluttered for me. I'm looking for one that's clean, easy one the eyes, supports multiple open files and has syntax colouring.

There's plenty of threads about this, but I would suggest notepad++

Notepad++ doesn't support non-Windows operating systems from the looks of it.

 

@jordanwb: I love vim, as do countless others, but its learning curve is too much for many people. Based on the countless stories I've heard of users who can't live without vim, I suggest you give it a try. (Go through vimtutor.) If you find that it's not quite what you wanted, I've heard that gphpedit and quanta are good choices.

I use Geany, really good. I found Bluefish and Quanta to be a bit clunky.

I like Notepad++ unfortunetly there's no linux version as you said. I'll give Geany and Quanta a try.

I installed Geany and I really like it.

I use wine (to run windows programs) and Dreamweaver 8 (had to be and PHP designer 2007 (had to be 2007)

 

If I didnt use those versions, it wouldnt work right away...which can take hours etc etc.

Really phpDesigner will work in Linux using Wine? That's cool. I like phpDesigner the best. The one thing I don't like about Geany is that I can't edit remote files. But also VLC media player can't play remote files either.  ???
