DeanWhitehouse
This is my site, what do people think Any criticisms or comments? It is a site that will be eventually used as my main site ,but for now it will just have a contact form and some code snippets. Also how is the security, i don't think there are any security gaps. http://djw-webdesign.awardspace.com/ Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/132319-code-snippet-site/ Share on other sites
Maq
-Orange colored links are really small on the "snippets" link. -Banner is very boring. -Feels like the site leans to the left a little. I like centered sites better. -Footer is empty. Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/132319-code-snippet-site/#findComment-687979 Share on other sites
DeanWhitehouse
I have changed the snippets link's size a little bit, although i am planning on changing this page slightly soon, yes i am going to create a new banner soon hopefully. The site looks more to the left because i removed all the right hand side design near-enough, but i will be replacing it soon with a quick search feature or something similar. I don't ever have a clue what to put in the footer, any ideas? smctainsh
Looks cool! A few suggestions: 1) If I try to go to a URL such as this one - http://djw-webdesign.awardspace.com/code.php?snippet=84 - where that snippet doesn't actually exist, I still get the 'template' for this page. Adding in a row check (to determine if the query returns 0) would be a good idea IMHO. 2) The only other thing to suggest is just fixing up the grammatical errors on the site. Hope it helps! Maq
I don't ever have a clue what to put in the footer, any ideas? Neither do I, usually I'll just put links, copyright, and if it's powered by something. I Googled it for you and thought this site could give you some good ideas. ILMV
The colour scheme could work, but it doesn't here. The site seems very dull/dark, at this time of year thats the last thing I want is something else dark and dingey. Just consider sites such as Google, Flickr, Yahoo etc, all light colours. Consider using a favicon. I hope this helps Good luck ILMV Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/132319-code-snippet-site/#findComment-688683 Share on other sites

adx
I'm not to sure about the 'Best viewed in Firefox' bit, you should look into getting the site to look good on multiple platforms. Are you serious?? Its an advertisement for Firefox, have you tried viewing it in other browsers, it looks exactly the same. Are you serious?? Its an advertisement for Firefox, have you tried viewing it in other browsers, it looks exactly the same. I didn't check, but the 'best viewed' just sounds like it implies such. I was simply saying you could change it to 'Get firefox' or something.
