kralspace
FRONTPAGE ===EVIL! After having to redo a dozen websites that people created in frontpage, I went around the company and confiscated ALL the disks and ALL the books! and it got me a new nickname too, da 'b Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/1958-do-you-use-microsoft-frontpage/page/2/#findComment-7167 Share on other sites
obsidian
I really don't like dreamweaver, it screws tables up 162251 interesting comment with how everything compliant is steering away from tables anyway! the only time i used frontpage for a project was when my boss required it, and then i spent more time going through and cleaning up code than i did actually designing the site... frontpage puts WAY too much extra nonsense coding in there for my taste! VI is awesome!!! lol Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/1958-do-you-use-microsoft-frontpage/page/2/#findComment-7168 Share on other sites
Guest neewah
OK, mabye you guys are right , frontpage can be pretty annoying Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/1958-do-you-use-microsoft-frontpage/page/2/#findComment-7169 Share on other sites
zq29
I used it for a very brief period, I can't remember why... Maybe because I didn't pay for it. Then I discovered Dreamweaver MX, does everything I need. In what way do you find it screws tables up? I don't have any problems... Like someone else said, if theres loads of HTML to be written, I use the WYSIWYG feature of DW, then tweak all of the code. Quicker and easier. bouncelot
Back in my Windoze days, I used Frontpage Express for a little bit, and got really annoyed that it mucked up my code. Nowadays I use a Linux tool called Quanta. It's pretty good and dosen't insert random bits of code without asking you. darkcarnival
i voted no because i either use: notepad for my html projects and php design 2005 for my php codings. besides i would rather use dreamweaver than frontpage if i was into WYSIWYG editors. neylitalo
Why in the world would you want to use FrontPage? You get way more control over your site if you hand-code, and if something breaks, you don't have to deal with all of the goofy things FP uses... also, if you make a site in FP, everybody who looks at it knows right away that it was made in FP... it just looks so canned. WYSIWYG is the worst way to go, in my humble opinion... Guest neewah
Maybe frontpage is alright if you aren't too experienced with HTML coding. Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/1958-do-you-use-microsoft-frontpage/page/2/#findComment-7560 Share on other sites
coldkill
i never use frontpage. Personally i think everything MS brings out is a pos even Windows. I wouldnt use it if i didnt have to. micah1701
I've added a contract line that my clients can NOT install frontpage extensions on their site after I build it or I will not make any future updates, corrections, or fixes. When I have to WYSIWYG, I use Dreamweaver. theverychap
I love these threads that last forever... lol :!!!: Ive just passed my web design exam to im going to buy myself some professional website design software, i think its called frontpage, have any of you heard of it? apparently its the best software out there for making websites, all of the other programs add extra lines of code and what people call 'bloat', but not frontpage, oh no, its a lean clean web designing machine. ahahahahahah, sorry. Guest neewah
Ok, FP 2000 really was quite crap, but the new version, 2003 is good. I used it to start making NeewaH.com v3. I don't see why almost everyone hates frontpage anyway. Is it the actual program, or is it because Microsoft made the program???? Arenium
No, its the actual program. 259881 Yes, this is indeed one example where anti-MS zealotry doesn't fuel the overwhelming negative response to the product. Me, I'm anti-WYSIWYG entirely. The code they produce is outright despicable. It makes messy code, and then allows you to tell it to clean itself up! wildteen88
I use Dreamweaver! I always handcode my work in dreamweaver, I hardly use the Desgin View feture to instert content. I use it as a guide to how my page will look like in a browser. I have got Frontpage 2003 as it came with my MS Office package. Frontpage is okay but I don't like as it can put in code what you don't want. Plus it doesn't allow for editing of PHP files, no code highlighting or any features for PHP. Frontpage is mainly for coding ASP pages etc. I'd say dreamweaver is the best editor out there. virtual_odin
I was rather suckered into buying the 2002 upgrade if I recall. In fact it is not a lot of advance on 2000. Actually, as I have used PHP more, I use FP less and less, more like notepad in fact. I would use one of the other free PHP editors if only they would show my web server file structure in the folder window... Unless I have not persevered enough, none that I have tried seem to envisage on-line editing, which is what I do all the time. EDIT: I have just discovered jEdit. It's 'folding' to hide code segments is just brilliant. Guest askjames01
I use multiple; note pad, text pad, DOS mode, Microsoft Frontpage, and the Beautiful Dreamweaver... But i'm planning to migrate to Dreamweaver MX completely... huh, huh, huh... : ) Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/1958-do-you-use-microsoft-frontpage/page/2/#findComment-8374 Share on other sites

Guest askjames01
ok, SA : ) Just like i said i liked both coding and layouting... I use DOS mode to check files extensions if they really in proper names... I use Notepad as a replacement for DOS Editor for my coding, but it is not enough because when i learn to code on mysql specially the update records thing ---> update INFILE the texts are scrambled so i use Textedit instead as a replacement for notepad. using Textedit the records that to be updated are in the right track, dont ask me the details for this..., i use textedit because it can determine texts files... I use frontpage because it's easy to use... it's not that annoying really, if you know the tricks huh, huh, huh : ), but the problem it's not WYSIWYG and this is the first webpage editor that i learned before Dreamweaver, but currently i'm learning to use Dreamweaver it's nice, and easy to use than FrontPage... And i think i'm gonna love Dreamweaver because there is no much restrictions on coding and blah, blah, blah and i think it is much better and complete than Frontpage. I DREAM ---> DreamWeaver Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/1958-do-you-use-microsoft-frontpage/page/2/#findComment-8381 Share on other sites
