I know this site is mostly for programming, but I think a forum for graphic design would be cool.

Your dead right there. This is a site for programmers IMO.

Yeah but with web developers also comes web designers. It's just a natural thing.

Seconded, I always thought of graphic design as something you can't learn, I would love to be proven wrong lol

Well, you are wrong. ;P It is just a skill like any other. Some people are naturally ridiculously good at it, and I hate those people, but you can indeed learn it.

What about people like me, who were assigned to be a hybrid designer/programmer? :)

I don't see why we couldn't at least have a sub-forum in Client Side - Other. I honestly don't think a graphic design will be too popular for a while though.

I learned it real good. I've been making graphics in MS paint for years now. Mostly stick men, and some stick women with those square, etch-a-sketch style boobs. Text is a little above my abilities still, so I outsource that part. :)

I wouldn't mind seeing a graphics related forum either.

If nothing else we can post pretty pictures like Pikachu2000 did.

But seriously, there are people that do programming plus the graphics, I feel would be a good addition.

Some guidance in just the basics may help people, obviously can't teach them to become a pro, that takes time and patience using them.

I'm pretty good at 3dmax, used many photo and graphics related applications (the good and bad), maya, blender, photoshop, corel, flash 8 pro, paintshop, animationshop, daz3d, xara, cinepaint....and countless others not worth trying to think of.

Here's a 3d render of my basement a few years ago.

Remember, we're a PHP forum first, generalized web development forum a distant second.  Any graphic design subforum would have to fit into that.  To me, that's what 'Website Critique' is for, since graphic design tends to mean layout when constrained to our focus.  Non-web designs would really only fit in our 'Miscellaneous' section.

IMO, that means a graphic design subforum is unnecessary.

But there is no home for "how do you do X" for graphic design except for Miscellaneous.
