kcmartz
I've tried XAMPP, I like the fact more features out-of-the-box, but WAMP (uninstalled XAMPP and trying out WAMP) seems lighter out of the box. What do you guys recommend? I've played around with both. Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/263095-xampp-or-wamp/ Share on other sites
The Little Guy
I prefer WAMP, to me it seems easier to customize. Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/263095-xampp-or-wamp/#findComment-1348489 Share on other sites

The Little Guy
Is there anything that uses Nginx? I like that better than Apache. Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/263095-xampp-or-wamp/#findComment-1348492 Share on other sites

thehippy
Been using Virtualbox the last few months. For a quick setup just using an existing image like you'll get from here or setting up my own as similar to the production server as possible. There are tools like vagrant around to make managing things a bit easier as well. kcmartz
Virtualbox isn't a development server, is it ? I thought it was for virtualizing another operating system, not local development unless there is a feature I don't know about? I only have my laptop (the desktop is the family computer), so I just use a VM. Was thinking about pure dual boot, but didn't want to go through the hassle, as 80% of what I do is MS-related.
