jazzman1
Hi friends, I don't use a windows system more than 13 years. So, I have a windows 95 but just forgot how to install Cyrillic layout into it. I wrote a message to the microsoft support service for now without any response. Does someone have an idea? jazzman1
You're kidding, right? Microsoft stopped supporting Windows 95 more than a decade ago. Should I know it ??? Well, if someone ask me whether Microsoft still supports 98, 2000, millenium, XP, I'm not sure that I can give him a correct answer, the same I could say for OS's X. Anyways, thank you for reply, so I found a patch for 95 and 98 into the web - http://virusdefence.org/bulgarian-phonetic-cyrillic-support-for-windows.html Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/273673-windows-95-and-cyrillic/#findComment-1408519 Share on other sites
kicken
I think the question here is why the f*** are you using windows 95? Why not use a newer version, or linux distro? Well, if someone ask me whether Microsoft still supports 98, 2000, millenium, XP, I'm not sure that I can give him a correct answer Those answers would be no, no, no, and almost no. Because of the hardware on the machine. Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/273673-windows-95-and-cyrillic/#findComment-1408532 Share on other sites
Christian F.
I can guarantee that any modern light-weight distro will run better on that computer, than what Win95 does. Slax, for instance, is one such distro. Based upon Slackware, and having lots of modules available for quick and easy installation, it's my favourite pocket Linux distro. There are multiple other such distros as well, such as Puppy Linux, Lubuntu and even DamnSmallLinux. Searching will almost guaranteed provide you with lots more options. All more secure, generally faster, and way more modern than W95. Edited January 27, 2013 by Christian F. jazzman1
You are right my friend. For example: Red Hat 7.x runs much, much faster than win 95, but I'm using 95 b/s of the software on that machine. Christian F.
What kind of software? I'm almost positive that there's either a native equivalent for it on Linux, or that it's possible to run said software via Wine. jazzman1
It's a long story, but let's say that I earn money online. There is no possible way to use Wine or Crossover under linux system;) Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/273673-windows-95-and-cyrillic/#findComment-1408539 Share on other sites
