I know your paster likes the top left "DESTINED TO WIN MINISTRIES" - BUT put it as an image with a little shadow and show it to them - it will look way better IMO. -steve

Cheers Chris. I tried that - however no joy. It worked visually - however the CSS validator didnt recoginise it and just said the same thing: Line : 124 (Level : 1) You have no background-color with your color : #footer a Rgds, Steve

eeeeee. OK - well it picked up on my Windows Media player. It worked the first time in IE6 and then crashed the browser. I managed to find out what I done. While the video is playing - if you click in the address bar, the skin of the player changes and well, it crashed my IE. In firefox I also clicked in the address bar and the skin changed - but the video stopped. -steve Apart from clicking in the address bar - it plays ok in its defauly skin.

Cheers Chris. Ya - having to set the background when you use a font colour is a right pain. "Line : 73 (Level : 1) You have no background-color with your color : #navcontainer a " Is there a way to get around this from the CSS validator?? - I.E. letting me specify a FONT COLOUR on a non-coloured/specified background?? -steve

My latest web development is with this Conference site: [a href=\"http://skycon.skynet.ie/\" target=\"_blank\"]http://skycon.skynet.ie/[/a] Any thoughts, queries or suggestions welcome. It should work across all browsers. The History page is quite large. I may have to reduce image sizes, not sure. What do ye think? Cheers, Steve

Nice. I dont know whats with the top white bar and also a piece of a vertical white bar on the left. The site map and links pages are hidden away in the bottom nav. They wont be seen/gotten to from there. Rgds, Steve

Its not bad. You badly need to make the text in the top left as an image IMO. - You could make it into a logo or something. This would add greatly to the website. Other than that - seems like a good solid website. Your Quick Links should open up in a different window. Rgds, Steve
-
Tried the site again. It did try to update the player - but it timed out. I would move to a flash video rather than trying to get javascript to install and detect stuff that I dont want messd with. Also - why doenst your video work with an old version of quicktime?? Rgds, Steve

Its not too bad. Its a little dark for my liking with the text a shade on the small side. The Nav menu is nice, the a:hovers and all - HOWEVER it is a little TOO subtle with the white text on the NAV corresponding to the page you are on. The corresponding Tab on the NAV bar should clearly show when you are on the assocaited page. Either make the text more white, bold it, or but the colour bottom border on it. The "web2design" text should be an Image IMO. - it would look better rather than aliased text. Id like to see a better header image also. Your about page is broken in IE6 !! Your news page is also broken in IE6 !! And as for [a href=\"http://www.chilledsaladfork.com/\" target=\"_blank\"]http://www.chilledsaladfork.com/[/a] - 8.6 megs!! Quite a lot for that FLASH animation. Rgds, Steve

It looks a little dated. There are LOADS of things you could do WITHOUT changing the layout. Text Size - You have SEVERAL different font sizes - I dont know what to look at when I first see the page. The COLOUR of your Drop-Downs are a dark black/grey colour. Your grey background gradient looks TOTALLY out of place. Either change colour, or apply gradient to other aspects of the page. Your site-map looks terrible - do out a flowchart and put image maps to get links etc. It will look WAY better. I would like to see a left and right border on the MAIN section. It looks open on the sides. Rgds, Steve

Im afraid I dont know any GOOD methods of importing a avi into flash. It can be done via simple import, however quality and size of flash file come into play. No - once a video is embdedded into FLASH it should not require any codecs. -steve
-
Im not too keen on Quick Time videos playing - especially automatically. I would much prefer a FLASH video, which doesnt require quick time on the client machine. Also on my brothers pc here, all I hear is the sound - I dont see any video - probably some codec issue or something. You might want to test the popups with the popup blockers out there to make sure they work ok. Rgds, Steve

Hi, Well I took the hit this time and signed up. Putting 123 for every box !! - Thats a great email address! Anyways - you have a very poor website, both graphically and code wise. For Example: [a href=\"http://www.themusicdb.org/addNewArtist.php?message=<iframe%20src=http://www.google.com>\" target=\"_blank\"]http://www.themusicdb.org/addNewArtist.php....google.com>[/a] Very Bad - just shouts cross site scripting. And I didnt go into much php/java script code messing. When ever a transaction is completed, e.g. register or add something, all you give is a blank page saying: "Record label successfully added! --Go back to form if data is wrong, with data already filled in" You have no navigation for the pages, having to click on the back button and banner to go home. How do I change my password? or username? or what if I forgot my password? Im going to stop there. You need to work more on you code and graphics. Keep going - TONS more to do. -steve

OK - the client doesnt visit many websites, or maybe they do and they like been distracted by banners - OK, well: [!--quoteo--][div class=\'quotetop\']QUOTE[/div][div class=\'quotemain\'][!--quotec--]Even if you SLOWED it down [/quote] There are lots of other things you could do/have done also. The colours, it could be lightened up a bit - have some opacity. Have it like a FILM roll - (negative film) etc. TONS of ideas to make it more pleasing to the eye - instead of a lot of photos stuck together in a line sweeping from right to left. -steve
-
That scrolling is WRONG - Put a nice Slow FADE between images in your header if it must be that way. No other websites have that annoying scoller. Even if you SLOWED it down - A LOT, maybe - but its just bad atm. It needs more content to fully evalute it. The layout is ok. Im not sure you need that gradient for the News items - its overkill IMO. Rgds, steve

Beanbagzilla - Would love some feedback
steviewdr replied to beanbagzilla's topic in Website Critique
Overall - ok. The green is only allright. I would make the left and right border a little darker to define the website width a little more. The header of your page could do with a little work also. Perhaps a light background or something. For the search -> put a javascript calender to help input dates. I would also like ALL the text to be a little bigger. Seems like the cart seems to work nicely - well done. Rgds, Steve -
The Navigation Menu - I think you could/should make the images as links aswell as the text. The Nav menu is also a little confusing. For example - History / Gallery - are these seperate?? Whereas Contact / Us are the same links - its just a little confusing. Anyways - its a good first website. A good project would be to convert it to css based layout where you can get loads more effects. On the index page -> [a href=\"http://www.bernisnudelbrett.de/en/index.html\" target=\"_blank\"]http://www.bernisnudelbrett.de/en/index.html[/a] the About us Nav icon is red with no image. Overall - good. Some tweaking would finish it. -steve
-
Its ok. Badly needs more content to fill it. Its quite small and if you put much content in it - then the page will become VERY LONG. Its a nice simple and clean design. I would prefer to see more decoration - icons or something etc. Its because when you fill it with content - it may look very plain and boring. Rgds, steve
-
Its much faster now. As for the auto resizeing of elements - I couldnt see anything of this. Rgds, Steve
-
I think it looks nice too. As nathan mentioned - the jump between moving between pages and home. Overall - nice. The brown grew on me. The flash portfolio is only ok. Id like a better transition - but thats only if I were picky. Rgds, steve

To me - your website seems like a "ghost business". You have NO real contact details. If I wanted to buy something off you - Id like a telephone number, address of business, proper name of business (yalll something or other?), proper location, contact email address for confirmation etc. Your contact us - is through an anonymous form - BAD for buying things IMO. Like if you have 2 websites etc.... why??? Just have one Company business and provide a redirect from another domain name. Overall I dont see anything physical about your business. I would like to see a photo of your building/premises if you have one - or clearly outline what you are up to. On a side note - I would change the grey. The red is ok - the grey is offputting in my opinion. I want to see "Business'ie" colours etc. Your Service Guide page - is named correctly - it should be "Buying Information" etc seeing as you provide info on shipping - which is good - but needs a little more info. What about outside the US?? Im in europe - if I only see a map of the US - im not going to buy it. Whats your Policies on damaged goods on delivery???? I dont think your website has the correct "Seller" information. Also a page saying "customer experiences" would be nice - this gets onto the idea of ebay and all that - which would be a good line to follow. Rgds, steve
-
The website is an improvement. I would leave the 4 steps on the front page - to when they actually want an answer/ask a question. Rgds, steve

Its not too bad. The validation banners look totally out of place -> and sure well at least one of your page doesnt validate: [a href=\"http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.btcartoons.uni.cc%2Fcarts.php\" target=\"_blank\"]http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%....cc%2Fcarts.php[/a] Im not gone on the colours - but it seems to work ok. On that carts page - the blue links are hard to read. Perhaps some line height would be nice to spread it out some more. Rgds, steve
-
I concur with all the points above. The blue text is very dazzling on the orange background IMO. Rgds, steve
-
Ya - looks like a nice clean site. On the nav in the left - are you going to colour code the sections? You can colour code the headings as a result on the front page - and it will help differentiate the different sections. Its a bit like google news, and Im not sure it'll take off - but seems to work fairly nice! -steve
