~n[EO]n~
I think when there are 2 many users logged in the server gets busy the page doesn't load. This happens to me too... If you provide them better server maybe this problem gets solved... Yes , they need it , i read in one thread about donation, people were contributing but i think it is paused for now. Maybe they have found some alternatives. ober
You can still submit donations. That has not changed. The problem is people are leeching content from the main site and it's dragging down the entire site. That's why the server has been going down. bilis_money
That's why the server has been going down. I think i need to do something to fix the problem and help eric for this case. It is really a major problem because it is driving people away from this site. Where is that donation button again? steelmanronald06
Actually, there is a way to stop content leeching. I don't know how, and it is going to mean that all of phpfreaks will need re-programming. In fact, there are one or two people here who I'm going to get in contact with and see if they want to do a small phpfreaks overhaul. :-/ Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/70466-phpfreaks/#findComment-354512 Share on other sites

I might be wrong, but that is my guess. But if you do stop content leeching, all content from the server can't be shown on other sites. Its like the "good" stuff can't be leeched off. :-X Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/70466-phpfreaks/#findComment-354567 Share on other sites
steelmanronald06
Exactly. We don't want our content leeched. We want visitors to come to us. But i think we can do page caching...i could be off. I'll have to look into it. maliary
Am a bit lost, how does content leeching occur ? Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/70466-phpfreaks/#findComment-354672 Share on other sites
Daniel0
It's when some websites use the content here thus using PHP Freaks' bandwidth and system resources. 448191
Caching is always a good idea, and very applicable to the main site. It helps to know who is leeching though. steelmanronald06
Is leeching done via sockets...assuming their using PHP? We can almost assume that since this is a PHP site and if they want our content they are highly more possible to be using PHP. So if so, can you block sockets? Or maybe an HTTPS? i've never looked much into leeching. Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/70466-phpfreaks/#findComment-354885 Share on other sites
