  1. I <3 sphinx. I've seen it work wonders.
  2. Man. if only.
  3. ePeen: http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/underdev/equipmentpotency.xml
  4. Yeah, like I said not 100% accurate. It shows my location about 15miles away from where I actually am. Best thing is to guess where they are and have like "Results near City. Located elsewhere here? Enter your zip: [ ] "
  5. Or you could do it via GeoIP - although not 100% accurate. http://pecl.php.net/package/geoip
  6. Would be an epic easter egg to hide in there!
  7. You can still sort it by ORDER BY last_name ASC SELECT * FROM students WHERE id = $student_id ORDER BY last_name ASC
  8. Having less programs installed by default just means less programs to uninstall later
  9. Mmmm, that is steep indeed.
  10. Ohh fancy that, I didn't know that!
  11. I prefer the slimmer keyboards, so they keys don't travel as far. As for the mouse - Razer all the way baby Of course, you could always use this one and get some exercise at the same time:
  12. You'd need to do something like installing FFmpeg and then using a system call to it. I don't think there is a way to do it with just php.
  13. Really....? I couldn't agree more with Neil
  14. (click on him) heh. it's been around forever, but its starting to make a comeback?!?
  15. Oh they can get it for $1/hr, but you get what you pay for. And I think a slow burn in hell would be better than a dead body going to hell.
  16. Well - good luck with that goal.. it is set pretty high It's all about how well the application is designed & applied. It's really a case by case topic, and you'll know when you need to add another server to your rack. With 1m visitors, I'd imagine you'd need a couple of servers for sure. Once you get to the point where you go beyond one server, you'll need to look into load balancing (either hardware or software, both have their pros/cons), other server software/OSs (lighttpd, nginx, etc) to fit your needs. And when in doubt, hire a server management company to help you out, especially with an aggressive goal with such rapid growth.
  17. Where did you pull that number from?
  18. Perhaps so, But what if someone had a name of "Johnny Doodle Master" with 2 last names? or 2 first names? What would it do
  19. To expand on this, let's say my name is Joe Bobbleman. If a company wants to address me informally in an email they could be like "Hey Joe look what we have for you!", but of they wanted to be formal "Dear Mr. Bobbleman,"Of course emails aren't the only place this can happen, you can use your imagination
  20. Yuppers, thorpe
  21. Yeah, I just uploaded a png
  22. I dunno about you, but gray food just isn't appealing to me. mmmm....
  23. I use http://litmusapp.com/ for my testing. It's not interactive (can't click on things, just screenshots) but it is super helpful with designing emails & pages.
  24. Ugh. I hated working with Godaddy for one of my clients. They should stick to domain names, and thats it IMO. What are you needs? You could get a VPS/Dedi/Reseller/Standard shared, it all just depends on your needs and your budget.
