Maybe in South Africa, but I can't recall any of our currency in Britain being nicknamed 'a tikie'...

From an SEO and vulnerability standpoint, I'd go with site.com/example/terms.

ok, i think that i understand...you ask them what they want and then give them a price instead of doing the work and charging by the hour...and the added 25% is a "just in case" extra bit so if it takes longer than expected you arent losing money. right?
Pretty much. Everyone knows where they stand then.
-
The 25% is mark-up, his profit margin. It comes in useful for when you want to do trade rates etc.dont really understand the +25% part...wouldnt you just charge by the hour??? if you are going to mess around like that, just raise your hourly rates by 25%.
so what do you say that your rates are when you give an estimate? do you say, "i charge $40 an hour +25%"? or do you just say, "i charge $50 an hour"?
Personally, I never charge by the hour, it's always a per project price.

I just want to be the same with the majority, in other forum they suggest this formula:
charge = (rate per hour x total estimated hours of development) + 25% of it.
what can you say about that.
Sounds fine, play with the percentage on a case by case basis though.

I have a Breitling Chrono Colt, currently with a Professional II bracelet, though I have a brown leather strap for it too that I have yet to take out of its box. I'd quite like to pick up a Zenith Chronomaster El Primero Automatic within the next couple of years though too.

<noscript></noscript> maybe?

There are HTML conditional statements, I've generally seen them (and have used them) when loading browser-specific stylesheets. As far as I'm aware, they have nothing to do with JavaScript so you should get the same results with JS switched on or off.
Though, it triggers the thought - Surly it would be quicker to just switch JavaScript off in your browser and test it, rather than ask on a forum what might happen?!
-
I saw early videos of this quite a while back - I'm not sold on the idea, it's too disorganised and inefficient. They've yet to show how you open and work on a file too...

Welcome to the "I'm 22 Club"!

This should be possible, we have an HP laptop in our meeting room, the VGA port on that is hooked up to a projector and we use that as the second screen. I think I just went into the monitor settings, selected the newly detected display and hit the 'extend my desktop onto this display' checkbox.

You can syncronise the usernames across databases, although they would have to log in again when they switch server.

I thought it was possible to install GNU Linux from a USB flash drive, not sure about Windows though - Might be worth investigating.

I can only assume this topic was locked because we have a sticky...

In my eyes, web hosting is not something that can easily be sold to companies as a product in itself by just cold calling. I think you'd struggle. Also, how much experience do you have with server administration? You need to stay on top of things!

[...] Her Majesties Revenue & Customs (HMRC) [...]
Lol... it's called that? Will the name change when you get a king instead of a queen?
I guess, but the acronym would be the same still - It's almost always referred to as HMRC.

Holy crap!
Fun mix of XP/Mac/Ubuntu by the way ;p.
I kind of would expect people on phpfreaks to have more computers than the average person. If all of the computers in my house are counted, not just mine, we have 7.... I see a pattern. Then again, small sample to derive a pattern from ;p. And I guess your 9 are just yours x.x. lol
We have five more at home that aren't mine too, hah! I always get blamed for the high power bills (might have something to do with the crap load of other electronic stuff I have too!
Technically, the five in my office are mine as I own the company - Though I only use two or three of those ones on a regular basis.
-
I currently own nine computers, I won't go into deep specification details as that might take a while but they are as follows:
In my office:
- AMD 64 X2 2400+ / 2GB / 4 x 80GB RAID 1+0 / 2 x Nvidia 7300 / 3 x 17" TFT / Ubuntu 8.04 Desktop
- Intel P4 3.2Ghz / 2GB / 250GB / Nvidia 7300 / 19" TFT & 15" TFT / Windows XP Pro
- AMD Turion 64 X2 2Ghz / 2GB / 160GB / Radion X1250 / 15.4" TFT / Windows Vista Business
- Intel Core Duo 2Ghz / 1GB / 74GB / Intel GMA X3100 / 13" TFT / Apple OS X (Tiger)
- AMD Opteron 1214 2.2GHz / 2GB / 160GB / Headless / Windows Vista Business
At home:
- Intel P4 2.4GHz (@3.12GHz) / 1GB / 250GB / Nvidia 5900 Ultra / 2 x 17" TFT / Ubuntu 8.04 & Windows XP Pro
- IBM PowerPC G4 1.4Ghz / 1GB / 160GB / ATI Radeon 9200 / 1 x 17" TFT / Apple OS X (Tiger)

And yes, they are all in use!
- AMD 64 X2 2400+ / 2GB / 4 x 80GB RAID 1+0 / 2 x Nvidia 7300 / 3 x 17" TFT / Ubuntu 8.04 Desktop

I'm not sure what the rules are for students, but I can't imagine you are 100% tax exempt; you're probably just on a different tax code with some form of lower tax rate.
If you are a student and running a business, I wouldn't have thought that you would get any special treatment otherwise everyone would take up night-classes at college/university to classify them as a student, to claim the same benefits.

SWFUpload.org has a nice one that is a mixture of Flash, PHP and JavaScript. I've used it with success on one project.

In a nutshell...
- You do not have to be registered for VAT if your turnover is less than £67,000.
- Your personal tax allowance is £5,435 of which you do not pay tax on.
So providing you have no other source of income, you would not pay income tax on your earnings, or have to be registered for VAT. You will however, have to register your business with Her Majesties Revenue & Customs (HMRC) as you will be liable to pay Class 2 National Insurance.
There are a couple of websites that may be of use to you...
- direct.gov.uk
- hmrc.gov.uk
- businesslink.gov.uk
- You do not have to be registered for VAT if your turnover is less than £67,000.

Is this going to be running from home, or are you co-locating in a data-center? What is the server going to be used for?
