  1. So I'm posting this in CSS because I think I'm having a CSS issue. Basically, I have this right now: I'm trying to vertically center the blue box and everything inside it. I've tried line-height, vertical-align, display: inline-block, position relative and absolute. The only way that works is if I do it manually with absolute or margin. But absolute isn't responsive so that's a problem. I'm using Bootstrap from the CDN if that matters. I'm only going to include code for the first box so that it doesn't get messy. HTML: <div class="container category-forums clearfix"> <div class="container category-forums-wrap"> <div class="container category-icon clearfix"></div> <div class="container forum-details-wrapper clearfix"> <div class="container forum-details-container"> <p class="forum-name">News Center</p> <p class="forum-desc">Stay up to date with all the latest news and, more importantly, familiarize yourself with the rules.</p> <div class="sub-forum-container container clearfix"> <p class="sub-forums clearfix">Sub-Category 1</p> <p class="sub-forums clearfix">Sub-Category 2</p> <p class="sub-forums clearfix">Sub-Category 3</p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="container forum-threads clearfix"> <h4>108</h4> <p>Threads</p> </div> <div class="container forum-posts clearfix"> <h4>2000</h4> <p>Posts</p> </div> <div class="container forum-latest-posts clearfix"> <div class="container last-avatar clearfix"></div> <p>Lastest thread</p> <p>Yesterday 3:15pm</p> </div> </div> </div> CSS: .category-forums { width: 100%; height: 41%; background-color: #ecf0f1; padding: 0; border-bottom-left-radius:.25rem!important; border-bottom-right-radius:.25rem!important; } .category-icon { width: 7%; height: 100%; border-right: 1px dotted lightgray; margin: 0; float: left; line-height: 100%; } .category-forums-wrap { height: 70%; width: 100%; border: 1px dotted blue; padding: 0; display: inline-block; vertical-align: middle; } .forum-details-wrapper { width: 55%; height: 100%; border-right: 1px dotted lightgray; margin: 0; float: left; padding: 0; } .forum-details-container { width: 100%; height: 100%; border: 1px dotted gray; margin: 0; } .forum-name { margin: 0; } .sub-forum-container { width: 100%; float: left; margin: 0; } .sub-forums { width: 31%; margin: 0; float: left; } .forum-desc { margin: 0; font-size: 1.3rem; } .forum-threads { width: 9%; height: 100%; border-right: 1px dotted lightgray; float: left; text-align: center; line-height: 100%; } .forum-posts { width: 9%; height: 100%; border-right: 1px dotted lightgray; float: left; line-height: 100%; } .forum-latest-posts { width: 20%; height: 100%; float: left; } .last-avatar { width: 25%; height: 100%; border-right: 1px dotted lightgray; float: left; text-align: center; line-height: 100%; } I'm having a tough time even centering the text vertically.
  2. I created a login system with bootstrap but for some reason I cannot delete the "placeholder" (in which it is written "admin") in both the inputs of the form ("uname" and "psw"). Even if I change the placeholder it's remain "admin". Have you any idea? This is the code: <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <title>Login</title> <link rel="stylesheet" href="https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/3.4.0/css/bootstrap.min.css"> <script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/3.3.1/jquery.min.js"></script> <script src="https://maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/bootstrap/3.4.0/js/bootstrap.min.js"></script> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="css/styles.css"> </head> <body> <div class="container"> <div class="jumbotron text-center" id="jumbo_log"> <h1>Login Page</h1> <p>You must login to enter</p> <form id="theform" method="get"> <div class="container2"> <label for="uname"><b>Username</b></label> <input type="text" id= "uname" name="uname" required><br> <label for="psw"><b>Password</b></label> <input type="password" id="psw" name="psw" required><br><br> <input type="submit" id="submit" class="btn btn-info" value="Login"><br><br> <a class="btn btn-primary" href="registration.php" role="button">Click here if you are not registered</a> </div> </form> </div> </body> </html>
  3. I am trying to implement the new version of captcha on my website. What i did so far: Inside the FORM: echo '<div class="g-recaptcha" data-sitekey="XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX"></div>'; Inside PHP: $recaptcha = $_POST['g-recaptcha-response']; if(!empty($recaptcha)) { $google_url = "https://www.google.com/recaptcha/api/siteverify"; $secret = 'YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY'; $ip = $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR']; $url = $google_url."?secret=".$secret."&response=".$recaptcha."&remoteip=".$ip; $res = getCurlData($url); $res = json_decode($res, true); if($res['success'] == 'false') { $captcha_error = "Please re-enter your reCAPTCHA."; } } The getCurlData function: function getCurlData($url) { $curl = curl_init(); curl_setopt($curl, CURLOPT_URL, $url); curl_setopt($curl, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, 1); curl_setopt($curl, CURLOPT_TIMEOUT, 10); curl_setopt($curl, CURLOPT_USERAGENT, "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.16) Gecko/20110319 Firefox/3.6.16"); $curlData = curl_exec($curl); curl_close($curl); return $curlData; } What i want to achieve is to know when the no-Captcha box is checked. I want to throw an error to the user if he/she did not check that box. So far i only throw an error if the response from Google is "We are not sure if you are human, please proceed to our second level of verification" [if($res['success'] == 'false')]. PS: most of the code is written by Srinivas Tamada. You can find it here. Thanks in advance.
  4. Great site!, Im trying to understand a bit more pdo.. I have the following: I have a svg and when I click on the map the country name is loaded into a var on the click event by the code below: <script> function fill_contact(evt) //display click event { var country_id = evt.target.id document.getElementById('country_name').firstChild.data = country_id } </script> My php code is as follows: <?php //Define constants define('DB_DRIVER', "mysql"); define('DB_SERVER', "127.0.0.1"); define('DB_DATABASE', "aeea"); define('DB_USER', "root"); define('DB_PASSWORD', "root"); //Database connection try { $dbh = new PDO(DB_DRIVER . ":dbname=" . DB_DATABASE . ";host=" . DB_SERVER, DB_USER, DB_PASSWORD); $dbh->setAttribute(PDO::ATTR_ERRMODE, PDO::ERRMODE_EXCEPTION); } catch(PDOException $e){ die("Sorry, we could not connect you to this database, please contact the Administrator to sort this out.". $e->getMessage()); } //Get data $query = "SELECT firstname, lastname, email, photo FROM reps WHERE country like ?"; $country = 'country_name'; //Create the statement $stmt = $dbh->prepare($query); $stmt->execute(array($country)); //Use data $row = $stmt->fetch(PDO::FETCH_ASSOC); echo '<pre>', print_r($row), '</pre>'; ?> My Html code is as follows: <div id="IndexPage"> <div id="IndexPage_Left"> <div id="IndexPage_Left_top"> <h3>Country: <span class="label" id="country_name"> </span></h3><!—This works fine--> <p></p> <h4>Regional Representative: <span class="label" id="firstname"> </span></h3></h4><!--get Rep ” firstname, lastname” from database based on country from svg to display--> <p></p> <h4>Photo</h4><!--get Rep “photo” from database based on country from svg to display--> <p></p> <input style='margin-top: 20px;' type="submit" value="Contact me." id='jqxSubmitButton' /><!-- if clicked, it opens a contact form below, the email address is hidden--> </div> <div id="IndexPage_Left_bottom"> <h4>email form here<h4><!-- if email is clicked, it opens a contact form here with “email” address from database --> </div> </div> <div id="IndexPage_Right"> <svg id="map" version="1.1" and rest of svg code. My database has a table called reps. It had dta of representatives in each country in Africa. It has a number of fields ie. rep_id(unique indexed), firstname, lastname, email, postal, city, state, country, contact_no, photo etc. I want to be able to get the fields in the database and display them in the html form on the click events. Ie. The database must also refresh the query every time a click event happens. Guests might click a few countries to look at reps. If they click off the map, it blanks out the details. How do I go about doing this? I’ve heard about XMLHttpRequest but don’t know how to go about doing it. Another question: Once I get the information, how do I display it correctly in the Html? I used <span>, but is it correct? Last question: Once I get the information email address, how do I show a contact form on "conact me" button? and then when guests click on another country, remove the contact form? This is my first website. Please help
  5. I have a page of html tables that are filled by database values through PHP, and there are no problems there. However, I have an issue on one of the tables. I have a pricing table, attached below. The $575 is currently filled from a field in the database that is set from a CSV upload, but the new CSV template is not doing this because it's missing the price field. This is the SQL statement that I'm using in the database, since the price is based off of meterSize, meterType and workOrderType2: UPDATE staging INNER JOIN pricing ON staging.meterType = pricing.meterType AND staging.meterSize = pricing.meterSize AND staging.workOrderType2 = pricing.workOrderType SET staging.onsiteTestSurveyPrice = pricing.price This works, but only with the original template, so I'm looking into doing this strictly in PHP with the table/row values, if possible. An example of what I'm looking for, using the html table and PHP: If $row['meterSize'] contains 3", $row['meterType'] contains COMPOUND and $row['workOrderType2'] contains ONSITE SURVEY AND TEST then $575 should go in <td><? echo $row['onsiteSurveyTestCost'];?> </td> Here's the code for those 3 conditional table rows: <tr style="border: none;"> <td style="border: none; text-align: left;">Meter Type:</td> <td style="border: none; text-align: right;"><? echo $row['meterType'];?> </td> </tr> <tr style="border: none;"> <td style="border: none; text-align: left;">Meter Size:</td> <td style="border: none; text-align: right;"><? echo $row['meterSize'];?> </td> </tr> <tr style="border: none;"> <td style="border: none; text-align: left;">Service Preformed:</td> <td style="border: none; text-align: right;"><? echo $row['workOrderType2'];?> </td> </tr> Is there a way to do this? I have multiple prices that are based on multiple conditions, but If I could figure out how to do this once then I can alter the values accordingly. Basically I want to mirror the db/SQL statement only with strictly PHP and the values in each table row. How can I do that, if possible?
  6. Hi all, I currently have a table listed, with one of the rows being hyperlinked and linking to an input form, should be autopopulated from the code (ID or other unique identifier) of the row, however, when clicking the link the form does not load. I will insert relevant code to this thread and if anyone would be able to shed some light on this that would be great. NOTE: SQL code has already been tested using PHPMyAdmin and works fine. Although, it may need changed to help with this issue - I'm not quite sure. Please see screenshots for relevant code.
  7. I have a form that is populated by a CSV file, always 229 fields but anywhere up to 10 or 12 rows. The form populates correctly, but I'm having issues saving it all. The loop seems like it's missing something or maybe something is mismatched. Here is the form code: **page-confirm.php** $connect = mysqli_connect($server, $user, $pw, $db); if ($connect->connect_error) { die("Connection failed: " . $conn->connect_error); }else{ //echo'success!'; } if(isset($_POST['preview'])) { ini_set('auto_detect_line_endings', true); $file = $_FILES["file"]["tmp_name"]; $handle = fopen($file, "r"); $maxPreviewRows = PHP_INT_MAX; // this will be ~2 billion on 32-bit system, or ~9 quintillion on 64-bit system $hasHeaderRow = true; echo "<form method='post' action='/form-submit' >"; echo '<table>'; if ($hasHeaderRow) { $headerRow = fgetcsv($handle); echo '<thead><tr>'; foreach($headerRow as $value) { echo "<th>$value</th>"; } echo '</tr></thead>'; } echo '<tbody>'; $rowCount = 0; while ($row = fgetcsv($handle)) { $colCount = 0; echo '<tr>'; foreach($row as $value) { echo "<td><input name='row[".$rowCount."][".$colCount."]' type='text' value='$value' /></td>"; $colCount++; } echo '</tr>'; if (++$rowCount > $maxPreviewRows) { break; } } echo '</tbody></table>'; echo "<input type='submit' name='confirm' value='confirm'>"; echo '</form>'; } ?> Here's the code for the submission page with the insert loop: **page-formsubmit.php** $connect = mysqli_connect($server, $user, $pw, $db); if ($connect->connect_error) { die("Connection failed: " . $connect->connect_error); }else{ echo'success!'; } //var_dump($_POST); $sql = $inserts = $binds = []; foreach ($_POST['row'] as $rowValue){ if(is_array($rowValue) && count($rowValue) > 0 ){ foreach($rowValue as $rowData){ /*** * Stupidly, I had missed that row contains arrays * rather than values, so you need a foreach, inside the * foreach as so: ***/ foreach ($rowData as $columnKey => $columnValue){ //$columnValue will now equal $value //$columnKey will be the column number (1...229) /*** * This is the area you can construct your SQL query values. * db_connection is assumed to be setup. ***/ $sql[] = "`column_name_".$columnKey."`"; $binder = "value".$columnKey; $inserts[] = ":".$binder; $binds[$binder] = $columnValue; unset($binder); } unset($columnKey,$columnValue); } unset($rowData); /*** * This is the area the SQL query is set on a per row basis ***/ $sqlFull = "INSERT INTO staging (".implode(",",$sql).") VALUES(".implode(",",$inserts).")"; $connect->prepare($sqlFull); /*** * EDIT: bind param MUST come after the prepare call ***/ foreach($binds as $bindKey=>$bindRow){ $connect->bind_param(":".$bindKey, $bindRow); } unset($bindKey,$bindRow); var_dump($binds); $sql = $inserts = $binds = []; //reset arrays for next row iteration. /*** * db_connection then executes the statement constructed above ***/ $connect->execute(); } //close if. } unset($rowValue); ?> You can see in the submission page where I comment out the var_dump for post data. When it's active, it prints out this for the array: success!array(1) { ["row"]=> array(5) { [0]=> array(229) and continues printing the 229 elements for all 7 rows. There is something that's not quite working in this loop because even a debug statement within the loop to print the query won't work. I just need to make sure it iterates all 229 fields of every row to the end of the form and puts them into my staging table. My staging table, which is temporary, has 229 named fields in the exact order as the CSV, so I shouldn't have to declare each field I don't believe.
  8. I am trying to create a dynamic form using Jquery but don't know how to post those data using $_POST. The page <html> <head> <title> Dynamically create input fields- jQuery </title> <script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.4/jquery.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(function() { var addDiv = $('#addinput'); var i = $('#addinput p').size() + 1; $('#addNew').live('click', function() { $('<p><input type="text" id="p_new" size="40" name="p_new_' + i +'" value="" placeholder="I am New" /><input type="text" id="p_new2" size="40" name="p_new_2' + i +'" value="" placeholder="I am New 2" /><a href="#" id="remNew">Remove</a> </p>').appendTo(addDiv); i++; return false; }); $('#remNew').live('click', function() { if( i > 2 ) { $(this).parents('p').remove(); i--; } return false; }); }); </script> </head> <body> <h2>Dynammically Add Another Input Box</h2> <form action="gen.php" method="post"> <div id="addinput"> <p> <input type="text" id="p_new" size="40" name="p_new" value="" placeholder="Input Value" /><input type="text" id="p_new2" size="40" name="p_new2" value="" placeholder="Input Value" /><a href="#" id="addNew">Add</a> </p> </div> </form> </body> </html> Here is live example.. A Pen by Captain Anonymous Whatever, The new fields got an unique name="" value as p_new_1, p_new_21 for first new field, p_new_2, p_new_22 for second new field ...... ...... Now, I know I can display inserted data using <?php echo $_POST["p_new_1"]; ?> and similar way like this... But as a growing field, this form can have unlimited input field. How can I display all of those data in the page gen.php? It must be something like this example: <html> <body> <div class="header">Generated content<div> <p><a href="inserted data of first field of default row">inserted data of second field of default row</a></p> <p><a href="inserted data of first field of first new row">inserted data of second field of first new row</a></p> <p><a href="inserted data of first field of 2nd new row">inserted data of second field of 2nd new row</a></p> <p><a href="inserted data of first field of 3rd new row">inserted data of second field of 3rd new row</a></p> <p><a href="inserted data of first field of 4th new row">inserted data of second field of 4th new row</a></p> And list go on according to submitted form.... </div></body></html> I actually lake of knowledge of PHP and no idea about array or something named loop. Can someone do it for me? What I have to do in gen.php?
  9. Hi I am trying to build a contact form and my form isnt sending. Here is my code. (its in a modal window)(I have my email address in the $to variable in the code) <?php $name = $_POST['name']; $email = $_POST['email']; $message = $_POST['message']; $from = 'From: Jarrod'; $to = 'email'; $subject = "Landing page"; $body = "From: $name\n Email: $email\n Message:\n $message"; ?> <?php if ($_POST['submit']){ if(mail ($to, $subject, $body, $from)) { echo '<p>Your message has been sent!</p>'; }else{ echo '<p>Something went wrong, go back!</p>'; } } ?> <div class="modal fade" id="contact" role="dialog"> <div class=" modal-dialog"> <div class="modal-content"> <div class="modal-header"> <h2>Contact us</h2> </div> <div class="modal-body"> <form method="post" action="index1.php"> <div class="form-horizontal"> <label for="Name">Your Name</label> <input type="text" class="form-control" id="name" placeholder="Name"> <label for="Email">Your Email</label> <input type="Email" class="form-control" id="email" placeholder="Email"> <label for="Message">Message</label> <textarea class="form-control" id="message" placeholder="Message"></textarea> <input type="submit" value="Send">Send</button> </form> <div class="modal-footer"> <a class="btn btn-default" data-dismiss = "modal">Close</a> </div> </div> </div> </div>
  10. Hi everyone, I'm trying to get my head around blending in and out of php and html. I've seen some simple examples which work great but now I have this variable that comes from the database and I would like to style the variable in-line with html markup. Here's what I'm trying to do: <?php echo "Price : ",'<Font size="100"> $tournament["pricePerPlayer"] </font>'; ....more of the same code goes here... ?> I can't get $tournament["pricePerPlayer"] to be controlled by the font tag. How do I do this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
  11. I have a page that displays about 12 tables that are filled from database values. These values correspond with a single record but some of these fields are based off of queries I'm making so that if something's wrong in the query, it will display red text. I'm only doing this for a few different fields but I want an option to edit and fix those fields and then save them to the database with an UPDATE. Basically, I don't want to wrap the whole page in a form since only a few fields in a few of the tables will need to be editable. Is there a way to do this so that I can edit only the few fields that need to be fixed? Here's a table as example: <div class="testResults" style=" width: 30%; clear:both; float: left;"> <!--Test Results Table--> <table style="width: 100%;"> <tr> <th colspan="2">Test Results</th> </tr> <tr> <td style="text-align: left;">Tested Within AWWA Standards</td> <td><? echo $row['standards'];?> </td> </tr> <tr> <td style="text-align: left;">Meter Failed on Low Side</td> <td><? echo $row['lowFail'];?> </td> </tr> <tr> <td style="text-align: left;">Meter Failed on High Side</td> <td><? echo $row['highFail'];?> </td> </tr> <tr> <td style="text-align: left;">Meter Failed Low and High Side</td> <td><? echo $row['bothFail'];?> </td> </tr> <tr> <td style="text-align: left;">Unable To Test</td> <td><? echo $row['unableTest'];?> </td> </tr> </table> So, for example, say I want to edit the data for just standards row and lowFail row. I tried this but it didn't work: <td><input type="text" name="test8TRGPM" value="<? echo $row['test8TestRateGPM'];?>"> </td> I know once this is done I'll need to have a submit button that attaches to a query to update with the input name, but right NOw i'm trying to find the best way to edit. Is it easiest to just wrap the whole page in a form and just create the few inputs where I need?
  12. I have a database written in and stored on a server. The table I will be accessing is called dataRep and houses Rep Data. This data is user input via form submission. Upon coming to the website there is an option to "View Rep Information" by submitting the Rep's ID that was given. That Rep ID will be the auto increment repID from the table. Upon clicking the button, it opens a new window that should display the rep's data. It does not, however. Here is the [html] the user will see: <div class="pop_box"> <a class="rms-button" href="#popup1">Enter Rep Number Here</a> </div> <div id="popup1" class="overlay"> <div class="popup"> <a class="close" href="#">×</a> <div align="center"><br> <br> <p>Enter rep number in box below. Submission will open new window.</p> <form method="get" action="/data/repPrepare.php" target="_blank" > <input type="text" id="repSelect" name="repSelect" placeholder="Enter Rep Number Given Here" /> <button type="submit" class="newbutton">VIEW</button> </form> </div> </div> ...and here is the [php] I have tried, which I get the following error: [indent]"Could not get data: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MariaDB server version for the right syntax to use near '[repSelect]' at line 1"[/indent] <?php $dbhost = 'mhhost'; $dbuser = 'myuser'; $dbpass = 'mypass'; $conn = mysql_connect($dbhost, $dbuser, $dbpass); if(! $conn ) { die('Could not connect: ' . mysql_error()); } $sql = 'SELECT * FROM dataRep WHERE repID = [repSelect]'; mysql_select_db('reviewmy_jos1'); $retval = mysql_query( $sql, $conn ); if(! $retval ) { die('Could not get data: ' . mysql_error()); } while($row = mysql_fetch_array($retval, MYSQL_ASSOC)) { echo "Rep ID :{$row['repID']} <br> ". "Rep NAME : {$row['repName']} <br> ". "Rep Bio : {$row['repBio']} <br> ". "Rep Certs : {$row['repCerts']} <br> ". "--------------------------------<br>"; } echo "Fetched data successfully\n"; mysql_close($conn); ?> I am truly stuck and have been dealing with this issue for two weeks. I would appreciate any assistance that can be provided. I just need the [php] to pull the data tied the repID that the user puts in the box. When I started this I assumed it would be rather easy. I guess that's what I get for assuming. Either way, I'm missing something here. Is there a possibility that this can not be done? Like, I should be using AJAX instead?
  13. Hi guys I would like to get whole content of html file after I submitted a password. The problem is that the my code doesn't access the value for the file. I tried to create a session but i doesn't work. What other option do I have to get the content of the html file? session_start(); $selected_file = $_POST['radio1']; // get the filename of the file $fileinfo = pathinfo($selected_file); $filename = $fileinfo['dirname'] . DIRECTORY_SEPARATOR . $fileinfo['filename']; $password = 'code'; $lines = file("$filename.html"); $_SESSION['selectedfile'] = $selected_file; $_SESSION['file'] = $filename; $_SESSION['Scipt'] = ("$filename.html"); $_SESSION['Scipttext'] = $lines; $_SESSION['file2'] = $fileinfo; if (isset($_POST['submitradio'])) { echo '<div class="imageselected">'; echo '<img src="'.$_SESSION['selectedfile'].'" /></br>'.PHP_EOL; echo '</div>'; // check to see if a html file named the same also exists if(file_exists($_SESSION['Scipt'])) { echo "<form action='test_result.php' method='post'>"; echo '<div class="Password">'; echo 'Type in password to view full Script'; echo "<label><div class=\"Input\"><input type='password' name='passIT' value='passit'/></div>"; echo "<input type='submit' name='submitPasswordIT' value='Submit Password'/></div>"; echo '</div>'; echo "$filename.html shares the same name as $selected_file"; for($x = 1;$x<=15;$x++) { header( "Content-Type: file/html" ); $lines = ($_SESSION['Scipttext']); $new = strip_tags($lines); echo $lines[rand(0, count($lines)-1)]."<br>"; } // end of forloop } // end of check // start Sorrytext else { echo '<div class="NoScript">'; echo "Nothing available at the moment."; echo '</div>'; } // end Sorrytext } // End of submitradio if($_POST['submitPasswordIT']){ if ($_POST['passIT']== $password ){ echo "You entered correct password"; readfile($_SESSION['Scipt']); } else{ echo "You entered wrong password"; } } echo '</form>'; I would be grateful for help.
  14. In the following pages I'm trying to validate if a user is signed in or not. If the user is signed in I would like to see 'Log Out' printed to the screen(I'll do more with that later). If the user is not signed in I would like to see a login form at the top right of the screen. As it stands I'm only seeing 'Log Out' on the screen, I can't get the form to show up anymore. I thought it might be because the session variable was still hanging around but I restarted my computer to make absolutely sure but I'm still just getting 'Log Out'. At the moment I need this program to work as is as much as possible. If you see an entirely different approach that you would use that's fine but I don't currently have the time to go changing a lot, I need to get this going kinda quick.   15. There are two parts to my question. Part 1. I have a form. You know when you submit a form and if there is an error, the form will reset the input values unless you have the them "selected"? Well I have an issue with one of those inputs. Here is the code. For some reason the input value doesn't get selected on form reset. It inserts to the database fine. <fieldset> <label>Expiry Date</label> <select name="expiry_date"> <?php $date = date('Y-m-d H:i:s'); $expiry_1 = date("Y-m-d H:i:s", strtotime("$date + 1 week")); $expiry_2 = date("Y-m-d H:i:s", strtotime("$date + 2 weeks")); ?> <option value="0">Expires In</option> <option value="<?php echo $expiry_1; ?>" <?php if(empty($_POST['expiry_date'])) {} else { if($_POST['expiry_date'] == $expiry_1) { echo 'selected'; } } ?> >1 week</option> <option value="<?php echo $expiry_2; ?>" <?php if(empty($_POST['expiry_date'])) {} else { if($_POST['expiry_date'] == $expiry_1) { echo 'selected'; } } ?> >2 weeks</option> </select> </fieldset> This is another example of select drop down. But this one below works fine. // this select option's input values get selected on form reset. <fieldset> <label>City</label> <select name="city_id"> <option value="0">Select City</option> <?php $get_city = $db->prepare("SELECT city_id, city_name FROM cities WHERE city_id > :city_id"); $get_city->bindValue(':city_id', 0); $get_city->execute(); $result_city = $get_city->fetchAll(PDO::FETCH_ASSOC); if(count($result_city) > 0){ foreach($result_city as $row) { $get_city_id = intval($row['city_id']); $get_city_name = $row['city_name']; ?><option value="<?php echo $get_city_id; ?>" <?php if(empty($_POST['city_id'])) {} else { if($_POST['city_id'] == $get_city_id) { echo 'selected'; } } ?> ><?php echo $get_city_name; ?></option><?php } } else {} ?> </select> </fieldset> Part 2. This relates to my previous topic. I am trying to do the same thing as above, which is show input values on form reset. But this is slightly more complicated as it is an array. Looking at the code, you can see that you can add more fields through jquery. That all works. Inserting their values from multiple groups of fields into the db also works fine. But once again, if the form resets or submits, only the 1st group of fields show the selected values in the input fields. The 2nd or 3rd group of fields generated through the jquery disappear after submit. But again, their values do insert into the db fine. Here's the html and jquery code. <div id="options-parent"> <h2>Add Options</h2> <button class="add_field_button">Add More Fields</button> <div class="options-child-row"> <div class="option-float"> <label>Quantity</label> <input type="number" name="option_quantity[]" multiple min="1" max="1000000" step="1" value="<?php if(!empty($_POST['option_quantity'])) { echo $_POST['option_quantity'][0]; } else {}; ?>" /> </div> <div class="option-float"> <label>Retail Price</label> <input type="number" name="option_retail_price[]" multiple min="5" max="1000000" step="1" value="<?php if(!empty($_POST['option_retail_price'])) { echo $_POST['option_retail_price'][0]; } else {}; ?>" /> </div> <div class="option-float"> <label>Discount Price</label> <input type="number" name="option_discount_price[]" multiple min="1" max="1000000" step="1" value="<?php if(!empty($_POST['option_discount_price'])) { echo $_POST['option_discount_price'][0]; } else {}; ?>" /> </div> </div> </div> <script> $(document).ready(function() { var max_fields = 20; //maximum input boxes allowed var wrapper = $("#options-parent"); //Fields wrapper var add_button = $(".add_field_button"); //Add button ID var x = 1; //initlal text box count $(add_button).click(function(e){ //on add input button click e.preventDefault(); if(x < max_fields){ //max input box allowed x++; //text box increment $(wrapper).append( '<div class="options-child-row">'+ '<div class="option-float">'+ '<label>Quantity</label>'+ '<input type="number" name="option_quantity[]" min="1" max="1000000" step="10" value="" />'+ '</div>'+ '<div class="option-float">'+ '<label>Retail Price</label>'+ '<input type="number" name="option_retail_price[]" min="1" max="1000000" step="10" value="" />'+ '</div>'+ '<div class="option-float">'+ '<label>Discount Price</label>'+ '<input type="number" name="option_discount_price[]" min="1" max="1000000" step="10" value="" />'+ '</div>'+ '</div>' ); //add input box } }); $(wrapper).on("click",".remove_field", function(e){ //user click on remove text e.preventDefault(); $(this).parent('.options-child-row').remove(); x--; }) }); </script> What do you think?

  18. I ran into this confusion while trying to write a script for uploading a file using AJAX which would work in IE8. Apparently there is a hack to achieve this which involves the usage of iframes. What I've tried so far is submitting a form with just action attribute which redirects to another page. <form method="post" action="test.php"> <input type="text" name="name" /> <input type="submit" name="send" value="Send" /> </form> Even if I set the attribute to _self(default value), the page redirects to test.php and shows what ever is printed by the php script. Now when I set the target to _blank, the page test.php opens in a new tab and shows what ever is printed by the php script. <form method="post" action="test.php" target="_blank"> <input type="text" name="name" /> <input type="submit" name="send" value="Send" /> </form> And if I set the target to an iframe name present in the same page, the php response is printed in the iframe(which is the hack to upload a file) <form method="post" action="test.php" target="some_frame"> <input type="text" name="name" /> <input type="submit" name="send" value="Send" /> </form> <iframe name="some_frame" /> So what I want to know is how does the action and target attribute work once the form is submitted? When the target attribute is set to _self, the page redirects and then prints(action first and then target), but if the target attribute is set to _blank, first a new tab is opened and then the response is printed(first the target and then action) and when the target attribute is set to a frame_name, it prints within the frame(does it load the response from the page into the frame?). It would be really helpful if someone could assist me with a link or an explanation of the flow of a form submission, the order of execution of the action and target attributes and how do they work and in what order do they run.
  19. There is no SEO section so I do not know where exactly to ask this question, but here it is. https://www.google.ca/?gfe_rd=cr&ei=jgm3VIqFNtCy8wfH3YD4CA#q=twitter.com Do you see how Google lists Twitter results in two columbs underneath the main heading title? How does one achieve that result with their website? Does only Google decides to make it show up that way?
  20. Hey guys, i am trying to create a box to show images or content once a user selects a link within a gallery. So for example i have an image --> user scrolls over --> image overlay shows a link ---> link actions to a jquery action to where a hidden field shows more data. right now i have everything to the point to where the links default action is disabled and the "overlay" div that will show the content is hidden. when i then go ahead and add some jquery to add a class when the link is clicked nothing seems to happen. <section class="work_area" id="WORK"> <div class="container"> <div class="row"> <div class="col-md-12 text-center"> <div class="work_title wow fadeInUp animated"> <h1>demo<span style="color: #64bdec; font-weight: bolder;">33</span> PORTFOLIO</h1> <img src="images/arrow486.png" alt=""> </div> <div id="dataBox"></div> </div> </div> </div> <div class="container-fluid"> <div class="row"> <div class="col-md-2 no_padding"> <div class="single_image"> <img src="images/REGISTERE.png" alt=""> <div class="image_overlay"> <h2>Lorem ipsum</h4> <a id="link" href="portfolio.php" >Popup link</a> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </section> CSS #dataBox{ width: 800px; height: 500px; margin: auto; padding: 100px 100px; position: relative; border: 2px solid black; margin-bottom: 10px; } #pData{ background: red; width: 800px; height: 500px; margin: auto; padding: 100px 100px; position: relative; border: 2px solid black; } JS. $(document).ready(function(){ $('#dataBox').hide(); $('#link').click(function(e){ e.preventDefault(); $('div #dataBox').removeClass().addClass('pData'); console.log("link is working"); }); }); everything works other than the div showing up.
  21. Hey guys, i am trying to create a contact form that by passes the page refresh and uses Jquery and Ajax to direct to a php file server side. So far i have everything work fine. until the final part where i pass the json data type into PHP and look to catch an error, success, or completion value. Currently i have an error coming back with the following: SyntaxError: Unexpected token < error due to a parsererror condition I do not see any errors in the console of of chrome, and i have no idea why i am getting this syntax error. These does not seem to be any conflicting data going into the json or out to php. really been stuck on this for a day now This is my .js file $(document).ready(function(){ $('form #alertMessage').hide(); $('#submit').click(function(e){ e.preventDefault(); var valid = ''; var name = $('form #name').val(); var email = $('form #email').val(); var subject = $('form #subject').val(); var message = $('form #message').val(); var honeypot = $('form #honeypot').val(); var humancheck = $('form #humancheck').val(); if(name = '' || name.length <= 5 ){ valid += '<p>Sorry, Your name is required!</p> '; } if(!email.match( /^([a-z0-9._-]+@[a-z0-9._-]+\.[a-z]{2,4}$)/ )){ valid += '<p>A Valid Email is required</p> '; } if(subject = '' || subject.length <= 2 ){ valid += '<p>A Valid name is required</p> '; } if(message = '' || message.length <= 5 ){ valid += '<p>A brief description of you is required.</p> '; } if(honeypot != 'http://'){ valid += '<p>Sorry spambots not allowed.</p> '; } if(humancheck != ''){ valid += '<p>Sorry only humans allowed past this point.</p> '; } if(valid != ""){ $('form #alertMessage').removeClass().addClass('error') .html('<br><br>' + valid).fadeIn('fast') }else{ $('form #alertMessage').removeClass().addClass('processing') .html('<br><br>We are processing your form now...').fadeIn('fast') var formData = $('form').serialize(); submitForm(formData); } }); }); function submitForm(formData){ $.ajax({ type: 'POST', url: 'feedback.php', data: formData, dataType: 'json', cache: false, timeout: 7000, success: function(data){ $('form #alertMessage').removeClass().addClass((data.error === true) ? 22. First let me start by saying I'm not looking to copy someone else's code but better understand where the line is drawn for people copying my own code. All developers at some point will have used others code in there own work. If you see something that inspires you, you may decided to use that code in your design. In some degree this maybe classed as fair use depending on the quantity of code you copy. Another developer may taken an entire php file, function, class, CSS sheet, HTML file and use this in there work / pass this off as there own work. This is blatant plagiarism. However what is stopping a developer from taking an entire piece of code and editing every aspect of the file to make it his own? For instance a designer my change the names of the styles and perhaps change the order of the properties and there values slightly; He may also move around parts of the html. In doing so causes the design to look different to your own but still the copying your work no the less. Another instance maybe that a PHP developer uses your entire code / software package and change the names of the variables, classes and methods; He may also change the order in which the methods appear and even change some similar functions to use alternatives such as loops. Again this causes the program to do exactly what your intends to do, however the source code will now look different to your own. How far can someone go back doing these actions? Is this legal? How best would you be able to prove it?

Without the onchange event in the code, when the user selects a Groupid option, it automatically loads another select box with names. But with it in the code (as I've shown it here), the select box gets disabled immediately causing no names to be loaded in the other select box. I need to be able to load the other select box with names before the groupid select box disables. Any help on this is appreciated. Thanks.
  24. Hi there, I have this conversion program I am trying to make. Basically I have one file called 'index.html' and another called 'convert.php', the basic function of this program is to show a form in the html page and then get the calculation from the php form and then show the result back on the html page. Do I just write it like it is part of the .php file I am working on Example...I want to use a include file for a list of links. Starting File <html> <head> </head> <body> <?php> include 'links.php'; ?> </body> </html> Include File <nav> <ul> <li><a href="link1.htlm">Link 1</li> <li><a href="link2.htlm">Link 2</li> <li><a href="link3.htlm">Link 3</li> </ul> </nav> Do I need anything else in the include or would this work?
