  1. Hi guys, before I get to the main part of my question, I first wanted to ask whether there is a maximum number of values you should store in an array. If for example you have 5000 boxes that people can choose from and eventually all 5000 boxes will be chosen, is it save to store all of the chosen boxes in an array? For example box1,box5,box7,box21 are already chosen, then someone chooses box2,box3,box4 and it adds to the same array, is that feasible with up to 5000 values in total? My thoughts on it were that it would probably be more feasible than giving each box it's own column!? Secondly, assuming the above is ok, how would I go about ensuring nobody could choose a box already chosen? Basically, if somebody chooses box3 and box4, how can I check that these don't exist in the column before adding them so they don't duplicate? Hope this makes some sense and isn't just gobblydeegook! Finally, if somebody in the Users table chooses box3 and box4 from SaleID5, what would be the best way of storing what they've chosen in the User table to use the data when they're viewing what they've got?! Many thanks in advance guys.
  2. Hello, I am querying a Mysql Database and displaying the results in a table. I need the results to Group twice and show totals. What I need is the results to group by the employee name, then under that name group by the date field. Then at the end of each date total up four of the columns that contain numbers. So the output would look like this: Employee Name Date Description Job Activity Comments Hours OT Travel OT XXXX XXXXX XXXXXX XXXXXX 3 2 1 1 XXXX XXXXX XXXXXX XXXXXX 2 0 0 1 XXXX XXXXX XXXXXX XXXXXX 1 0 1 1 Totals 6 2 2 3 Date Description Job Activity Comments Hours OT Travel OT XXXX XXXXX XXXXXX XXXXXX 3 2 1 1 XXXX XXXXX XXXXXX XXXXXX 2 0 0 1 XXXX XXXXX XXXXXX XXXXXX 1 0 1 1 Totals 6 2 2 3 Date Description Job Activity Comments Hours OT Travel OT XXXX XXXXX XXXXXX XXXXXX 3 2 1 1 XXXX XXXXX XXXXXX XXXXXX 2 0 0 1 XXXX XXXXX XXXXXX XXXXXX 1 0 1 1 Totals 6 2 2 3 Employee Name Date Description Job Activity Comments Hours OT Travel OT XXXX XXXXX XXXXXX XXXXXX 3 2 1 1 XXXX XXXXX XXXXXX XXXXXX 2 0 0 1 XXXX XXXXX XXXXXX XXXXXX 1 0 1 1 Totals 6 2 2 3 Date Description Job Activity Comments Hours OT Travel OT XXXX XXXXX XXXXXX XXXXXX 3 2 1 1 XXXX XXXXX XXXXXX XXXXXX 2 0 0 1 XXXX XXXXX XXXXXX XXXXXX 1 0 1 1 Totals 6 2 2 3 etc.... My code so far, I can not figure how to do the second grouping by date and put the totals in. mysql_select_db("time", $con); $result = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM data WHERE labor_date BETWEEN '$start' AND '$end' Group By user_name, labor_date Order by last_name ASC"); if (mysql_num_rows($result)==0) { echo "[warning_box]There are not any hours recorded for the time period that you chose. Please try again with a different set of dates.[/warning_box] "; } else { $current_user_name = false; while($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { // listing a new employee? Output the heading, start the table if ($row['user_name'] != $current_user_name) { if ($current_user_name !== false) echo '</table>'; echo '[divider_padding]';// if we're changing employee, close the table echo ' <h5>'.$row['last_name'].', '.$row['first_name'].'</h5>[minimal_table] <table> <tr> <th style="width:200px">Description</th> <th style="width:75px" class="tableleft">Job</th> <th style="width:75px" class="tableleft">Activity</th> <th style="width:290px" class="tableleft">Comments</th> <th style="width:64px" class="tableright">Hours</th> <th style="width:64px" class="tableright">OT</th> <th style="width:64px" class="tableright">Travel</th> <th style="width:63px" class="tableright">TOT</th> </tr>' ; $current_user_name = $row['user_name']; } // output the row of data echo '<tr> <td>'.$row['description'].'</td> <td class="tableleft">'.strtoupper($row['job']).'</td> <td class="tableleft">'.$row['activity'].'</td> <td class="tableleft">'.$row['comments'].'</td> <td class="tableright">'.$row['rthours'].'</td> <td class="tableright">'.$row['othours'].'</td> <td class="tableright">'.$row['trthours'].'</td> <td class="tableright">'.$row['tothours'].'</td> </tr> '; } echo '</table>[/minimal_table]'; // close the final table I am really stuck, Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

  5. Hi, my code seemingly will not send the table data through email, the Table headers are sent fine, but anything after the while loop does not get sent, looking to remedy this issue.[ic]$to= 'mldecota@plymouth.edu'; <?php $to= 'mldecota@plymouth.edu'; $sub = "Hi"; $header = "Content-type: text/html"; $con = mysql_connect('localhost', 'sysop', 'Rotten210'); if (!$con){ die('could not connect' . mysql_error()) ; } $db_selected = mysql_select_db('mldecota', $con); if (!$db_selected) { die ('Borked ' . mysql_error()); } $result = mysql_query('SELECT * FROM data'); if (!$result) { die('Invalid query: ' . mysql_error()); } echo'completed succesfully'; echo "<table border='1'> <tr> <th>Date</th> <th>Time</th> <th>Machine</th> <th>Action</th> <th>User</th> </tr>"; while($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { echo "<tr>"; echo "<td>" . $row['Date'] .   6. How would I go about adding a search feature, css, and a hidden rows feature/next buttons to this table I have written in PHP? There are about 5000+ items listed in this table, so it's crucial that it's a fast search bar. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I was trying to use jquery but everything is messed up and the search + features don't show up. $fp=fopen("csv/inventory4.html",'w'); $write=fputs($fp,$html_body,strlen($html_body)); $i=0; $content = file("webinvt.txt"); foreach($content as $line) { $l=csv_split($line); if(!strstr($l[11],"SET")) { if($i==10) { $tmp = '<tr>'; $write=fputs($fp,$tmp,strlen($tmp)); $i=0; } $onhand = (int)$l[15]; $committed = (int)$l[16]; $avail = $onhand - $committed; $wcdate = substr($l[23],4); $eastdate = substr($l[19],4); if(strstr($l[1],"DISC")) { $html_body ='<tr "> <td>'.$l[0].'</td> <td>'.$l[1].'</td> <td>'.$l[12].'</td> <td>'.$avail.'</td> <td>'.$l[17].'</td> <td>'.$l[18].'</td> <td>'.$eastdate.'</td> <td>'.$l[21].'</td> <td>'.$l[22].'</td> <td>'.$wcdate.'</td> </tr>'; } else { $html_body ='<tr> <td>'.$l[0].'</td> <td>'.$l[1].'</td> <td>'.$l[12].'</td> <td>'.$avail.'</td> <td>'.$l[17].'</td> <td>'.$l[18].'</td> <td>'.$eastdate.'</td> <td>'.$l[21].'</td> <td>'.$l[22].'</td> <td>'.$wcdate.'</td> </tr>
  7. Hello everybody, I have created a table with fixed cell width and height for each cell. Now I would like to put some text, which end with a number into the cells. I assume the height is good enough for a paragraph of 2 lines only, but the number should always be aligned right at the bottom line. I have tried this CSS: .para { display:block; margin-left:0px; margin-right:0px;} .para span { display:block; margin-left:0px; margin-right:0px; float:right; text-align:right;} With this HTML: <td height='40'><p class="para">Here is the description. <span>135</span></p></td> It works ok, but if the words and the number only spans one single line, the number will be right-aligned at Line 1 instead. On the other hand, if I change float:right to float:bottom-right, when the words spans 2 lines, the number will be dropped to the right side of Line 3. Is there any way to solve the problem so that the number is always shown on Line 2 and right-aligned? Thanks! Pengi.

  9. I have a dynamic php page that has a series of select boxes at the top. When the user changes what is in the select boxes a div at the bottom of the page gets populated with a table via an ajax call to a php script. I am need of a button on that page that a user can click that will give them the option to save that displayed table as a .csv file. I have been looking all over for a solution that will work in both ie and ff, and am not coming up with anything. Any help would be great. Thanks!

  11. Hello. I am one of the millions of noobs out there. I have a script designed to look up database and return search results to a table. The page however is blank so nothing is being output at all. Even the source is empty when I look at it. So the script starts with a simple index page to enter the search term and then submit. The search.php page then has the following parsed into the browser url = search.php?query=death&submit=Search I have tried searching google for all sorts of reasons for blank pages but none appear to help as they all appear to be unrelated. the script i am using on the search page is below, I want to learn so some pointers would be useful please. <?php mysql_connect("localhost", "user", "password") mysql_select_db("db") or die(mysql_error()); $query = $_GET['query']; $min_length = 1; if(strlen($query) >= $min_length) { $query = htmlspecialchars($query); $query = mysql_real_escape_string($query); echo "<table border='0' width='300' align='center'>"; echo "<tr align='center' bgcolor='#002C40' > <td height='35px' width='150px'>Title</td> <td>Author</td></tr>"; $raw_results = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM avathar15 WHERE (`user` LIKE '%".$query."%') OR (`alliance` LIKE '%".$query."%')"); if(mysql_num_rows($raw_results) > 0) { while($results = mysql_fetch_array($raw_results)) { echo "<tr align='center' bgcolor='#0f7ea3'> <td height='25px'>".$results['title']."</td> <td>".$results['text']."</td></tr>" ; } } else{ echo "<tr align='center' bgcolor='#6C0000'> <td colspan='2' height='25px'>No results</td> <tr>"; echo "</table>"; } } else{ echo "Minimum length is ".$min_length; } ?>
  12. Hi I have a list of youtube videos in a flat file database. I would like to print a thumbnail of these videos out to the end user in a table. The results need to have pagination as well as a dynamic table so i can display say 3 rows and 3 columns per page. The column amount will also need to be adjustable in case i wish to change the columns from 3 to 4 for example: $video_file_data[]; //This is the array in which all video info will be stored $start = $_REQUEST['start']; //pagination setting $videos_per_page = 9; //Show 9 Vids per page $table_colums = 3; //Amount of columns needed to display results per page $num = count ($video_file_data); //Number of lines in data array $max_pages = @ceil($num / $videos_per_page); //Maximum number of Pages $cur = @ceil($start / $videos_per_page)+1; for($i=$start;$i<min($num,($start+$videos_per_page)+0);$i++) { list($date_added, $video_title, $youtube_url) = explode('|', trim($video_file_data[$i])); // <--- Table needs to go } The info stored in $video_file_data[] would look something like this: date 1."|".title 1."|".youtube url 1 date 2."|".title 2."|".youtube url 2 date 3."|".title 3."|".youtube url 3 date 4."|".title 4."|".youtube url 4 Many thanks for the help

  15. Hello, i have a table i have to fill out with info regarding other tables, is a join possible or do i have to make 2 queries? This is what i have right now. $date = date("Y-m-d H:i:s"); $sql = "INSERT INTO tblpaqueteria ( sender_id, reciever_id, AddTime, Estatus, ubicacion, tipo,slocalidad_id,rlocalidad_id ) VALUES ( '{$_POST['id_send']}', '{$_POST['id_rec']}', '{$date}', '0' , '0', '{$_POST['tipo_paq']}',0,0 )"; $res = mysql_query($sql,$this->conn); return $sql; What i need now is to change some of my insert into dynamic ones, i have to enter into "slocalidad_id" and into "ubicacion" the "id" of a table called localidad, and this id is being referenced from a table called "usuarios" (users) where "$_POST['id_send']" where localidad_id marks the id i need to insert into tblpaqueteria. I am not sure if I explained myself correctly so ill try and make an example. usuarios So for my sql above, without joins i would be receiving from POST id_send = 2 and from id_rec 11 so my query should insert this $sql = "INSERT INTO tblpaqueteria ( sender_id, reciever_id, AddTime, Estatus, ubicacion, tipo,slocalidad_id,rlocalidad_id ) VALUES ( '{$_POST['id_send']}', '{$_POST['id_rec']}', '{$date}', '0' , '2', '{$_POST['tipo_paq']}',2,4 )"; notice the numbers "2" and "4" being inserted, those are the ones i don't know how to enter dynamically, i think its a join, but i don't know how to use them in an insert. Thanks a lot

  17. Hey guys, i've been searching the web trying to figure out the best method of storing images in a database table when it comes to user registration. Basically, users will register with only 3 elements: Upload Image( turned into Avatar/Thumbnail), E-mail, and Password. Now i've figured out the basics on how to store user information such as the e-mail and pass, but I still haven't found any direct answers on the topic of properly managing user avatars/thumbnails. Now these avatars will be displayed everytime the user posts, much like any forum or social network. So, do I store the image itself in the database? Do I store it in a user_avatar file/directory on the server and have a direct link in the table to fetch and display the image? What would be the best method to go about this? I thought about maybe having a table with user_ID, avatar_ID and avatar_link(direct link to image).
  18. Hello, I have a table as follows; echo " <form method='get'> <center><img border='0' src='contest_winner.jpg' alt='test' width='452' height='384' class='center'></center> <table class='imagetable center'> <tr> <th>5/36</th> <th>6/40</th> </tr> <tr> <td> <select name='game1'> <option value='1'>111111</option> <option value='2'>222222</option> </select> </td> <td> <select name='game2'> <option value='1'>111111</option> <option value='2'>222222</option> </select> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> <input name='send1' type='submit' value='Check'> </td> <td> <input name='send2' type='submit' value='Check'> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> <-------- image here -----------> </td> <td> <-------- image here -----------> </td> </tr> </table> </form>"; I would like to add an image between TD's at the last TR of the table. How can I do it dynamically? Best Regards.

  23. I have the following code set up to insert data into my table. This is just a test to see if it will work before I go further into development. I know I'm able to connect to my data as I have a message appear when that happens, but it won't insert data into the table for some reason. $phoneNumber = "0786352373"; $firstName = "jennifer"; $lastName = "dunne"; $profilePicture = ""; $photo = ""; $video = ""; $text = "text is here yes yes eys"; $call = "call is here yes yes eys"; $activity = "this is jennifers activity"; $latitude = "-50.889473"; $longitude = "3.845738"; $date = "23/05/2012"; $time = "13:29"; $sql = "INSERT INTO member (phoneNumber, firstName, lastName, profilePicture, photo, video, text, call, activity, latitude, longitude, data, time) "; $sql .= "VALUES ('$phoneNumber', '$firstName', '$lastName', '$profilePicture', '$photo', '$video', '$text', '$call', '$activity', '$latitude', '$longitude', '$data', '$time')"; if (!mysqli_query($sql, $con)) { die('Error: ' . mysqli_error()); } else { echo "Comment added"; } mysqli_close($con); I do get an error message come up, but all it says is the following and doesn't shine light on the situation at all. Error: I'm very new to mysql and always seem to struggle with it but want to get over my fear of it. :-)
  24. Hi, here is some code for my site, where images are displayed with text underneath. It is set up in a table, but all the images and text go horizontally, and I need it to go vertically. Please help. <center> <table border="1" rules="cols" width="100%"> <tr> <? foreach($top_ratings as $key => $image) : ?> <td valign="top"><img src="http://mywebsite.com/images/<?=$image->filename?>" width="100%"/></td> <? endforeach ?> </tr> <tr> <? foreach($top_ratings as $key => $image) : ?> <td valign="top">Score: <?=$image->score?></td> <? endforeach ?> </tr> <tr> <? foreach($top_ratings as $key => $image) : ?> <td valign="top">Performance: <?=$image->performance?></td> <? endforeach ?> </tr> <tr> <? foreach($top_ratings as $key => $image) : ?> <td valign="top">Won: <?=$image->wins?></td> <? endforeach ?> </tr> <tr> <? foreach($top_ratings as $key => $image) : ?> <td valign="top">Lost: <?=$image->losses?></td> <? endforeach ?> </tr> </table> </center>
  25. Hello all, I'm having a bit of a problem with my code here. I'm trying to allow the user to enter a number (an office number) from a database, and based on that value, after submitting it, an html table will fill with the appropriate results (lastName, firstName, jobTitle). For whatever reason, though, I keep getting this error: "Warning: mysqli_fetch_array() expects parameter 1 to be mysqli_result, boolean given in... <website name> <line number>" It's very weird, because I'm doing this straight from notes / w3 and I'm still getting errors. I'm still new to this, so I'm sorry if I'm sounding completely inexperienced... well I am haha. Anyway, here's the code: <!DOCTYPE html > <html lang ="en"> <head> <title> Homepage </title> </head> <body bgcolor="gray"> <h1 align=middle> Welcome to the Site </h1> <?php DEFINE ('DB_USER', '*******); DEFINE ('DB_PASSWORD', '******'); DEFINE ('DB_HOST','*****'); DEFINE ('DB_NAME','******'); $dbc = @mysqli_connect(DB_HOST,DB_USER,DB_PASSWORD,DB_NAME) or die ('Could not connect to MySQL: '.mysqli_connect_error($dbc) ); mysqli_set_charset($dbc, 'utf8'); //$r = @mysqli_query($dbc, $q); ?> <form action ="Homepage.php" method="get"> Enter Office Code: <input type="text" name="oCode" id="OfficeCode" maxlength="15"> <input type="submit" name="formSubmit" value="Submit"> </form> <? $code = $_GET['oCode']; $result = mysqli_query($dbc, "select lastName, firstName, jobTitle from Employees where OfficeCode='$code'"); echo "<table border='1'>"; echo "<tr>"; echo "<th>LastName</th>"; echo "<th>FirstName</th>"; echo "<th>Job Title</th>"; echo "</tr>"; while ($row = mysqli_fetch_array($result)) //this is where I'm getting the error { echo "<tr>"; echo "<td>" . $row['lastName'] . "</td>"; echo "<td>" . $row['firstName']. "</td>"; echo "<td>" . $row['jobTitle'] . "</td>"; echo "</tr>"; } echo "</table>"; mysqli_close($dbc); ?> Any help would be great. Thank you!
