  1. Jokes on you guys when you get the shitty default "Member1232435" names and can't change em
  2. Actually, AFAIK SMF always allowed ridiculous characters in the username. Le sigh. Tomorrow my friend, this will be fixed.
  3. Someone is testy today...
  4. Has anybody here gotten into the closed beta? I applied, but so far I haven't had any luck.
  5. Either a certain % (usually for me anything below 10% is OK to drop) or if it is 2 versions old... which is exactly what Google is doing here.
  6. Just cuz they have Chrome doesn't mean everyone is going to use it. A lot of businesses use IE, which I'd imagine a majority of their Google Apps (business/education) users are using a version of IE. As much as I'd love to be able to drop IE as well, (a) it has gotten better over the years and (b) it's still roughly 30% of the market share (that's the average for a lot of our clients at least - a diverse set of clients at that.) That's way too high to be able to drop altogether.
  7. Are you asking why they wouldn't just drop support completely for IE?
  8. I've updated the original post with the schedule information (as seen below.)
  9. I disagree. Their support is among the best, especially compared to the lowerend boxes (unless you know somebody / are friends with the providers.) They have always been courteous to me, even when I ask a stupid question... and I have done the same thing on lower boxes and gotten rude replies which gave off the vibe "why are you wasting my time?" Plus their uptime is fantastic. I almost always see emails / tweets about how a node on a lower host is going to be rebooted or got DDoS'd so it had to be taken down for a bit, etc. But I've only once had that happen in the 3 years I've had a linode.
  10. Namecheap ftw! but hey, we have a thread over this!
  11. And I agree. You already know what the answers are / weren't, so why not show us what we missed to learn?
  12. $color = $i == 2 ? "red" : "blue"; should read: $color = ($i == 2) ? "red" : "blue";
  13. At least when I used it last year it was almost always broken and there were times I had to use IE to use it :-/
  14. You lost major points in my book. They have one of the worst interfaces IMO.
  15. I'll give you the answer you're not going to want to hear, but this is usually the answer you'll be given: we cannot tell you how much you should charge; only you can. $40-60/hr is not an unreasonable rate (at least in the US), as long as you can back it up with the quality of work. It also depends on what you're doing - I can get away with charging $100+/hr for the niche I'm in, but if I were to do HTML/CSS, it'd be a lot less. Yes, yes they do. However you usually get what you pay for. There are exceptions... but I've generally found that the cheaper labor usually costs more because I have to have someone come in and cleanup & fix issues that came up.
  16. I could see #3.1 being argued as correct as it is the definition of a class property (which arguably is a variable in its own.) #11 probably needs clarification, like "before printing a header" #15.2 needs a space between "of" and "a" #21.3 needs clarification on what it continues IMO Is 23/24 really a beginners question? Plus all of the above comments
  17. It'll be about the same as it is now - a line across the bottom. The like button will be near this, so that should make it a bit easier to stand out. To preview the skin on a different board, you can check out their company forums
  18. Lazy bum!
  19. Yeah, the glass box stuff is pretty cool. I was hoping they'd post more, but nope :-/
  20. I <3 SimCity games, or really just simulation games in general
  21. Mmm, I'm going to call typo. Or stupidity. Wait, stupidity sounds about right for GoDaddy.
  22. Andddddd they are claiming it was a "corruption of router data tables". Riiight.
  23. Multiple personalities ftl.
  24. Indeed we are. But last time I looked at SMF's code it didn't really do justice for sphinx. We just use it for the speed on here (fulltext would take foreeevvvveerrrrr)
  25. Fair point. I'm surprised it took this long tbh.
