Barand
PHP 6 is hovering on the horizon but it seems that many developers still haven't moved to version 5 yet, probably because hosting company has failed to upgrade. So I was wondering how many are on which version. I use v5 mainly but still keep v4 on my server for use when still needed.
neylitalo
I use v5 when I can, v4 when I have to.
zq29
I use 5 locally, but 4 is the main version on my servers with 5 available by using .php5 as the extension. I must get version 5 as the main install actually...
trq
Ive never used 4, have always stuck to 5. I even had 6 running on a dev box a few months back but ended up removing it.
Daniel0
I use PHP 5 as well. I don't see any reason to use PHP 4 when there is a newer and better version. Besides, PHP 4 will only be maintained until the end of this year.
GingerRobot
I did use PHP 4 a while back when i was learning php and developing a game. Running php 5 on my local machine, and don't have any projects so thats all i use now.
kts
I am not very familiar with the newer ways. I started in PHP3 and stopped and now I jumped into PHP5 and its a mess of difference. Lots of debugging for me now. But, it is a great source.
juapo2
I use 5, because it has many more features, but i dont like very much to write as extension: .php5, i think it sounds better .php doesnt it?
shlumph
Did OOP in PHP come out in PHP5? If it did, I couldn't imagine using any lesser version..
Daniel0
Did OOP in PHP come out in PHP5? If it did, I couldn't imagine using any lesser version.. PHP did have limited OOP support in version 4. See: http://php.net/oop (OOP in PHP4) and http://php.net/oop5 (OOP in PHP5)

You don't have to do any main install, all you do is change the .htaccess page. Hope that helps!
