  1. A few suggestions: 1) The main area needs padding. Everything is jammed up next to the menu. 2) On the "apply now" portion, the accept/deny thing makes no sense. Simply give the user a checkbox if they agree. If they submit the form without checking the box prompt them to agree. 3) I see a lot of "blah blah blah ." Why is there a space at the end of the sentences before the period?? 4) Nevermind... I'm on hotel internet and your site won't load anymore.
  2. Actually, it doesn't look great at high resolutions either. I'm running 1600x1050 and there's a ton of white space. Other suggestions: 1) Clean up your error checking on the search. A no result search gives php errors. 2) I'd lose the background around the breadcrumb navigation area and just let that text float with the rest of the site. 3) Make your menu dynamic enough so that if there are no products in that category that it doesn't show up. 4) Center the top logo. 5) Add more images or do something to remove some of the white space at the top. It looks very boring and would warm it up a touch if you added some images.
  3. I agree with the above. Pagination is a must. The site is very basic and the styling is pretty awful. There is no cohesion with the style and layout. It's just a mesh of colors that don't really work well (blue and black really don't play that well together in a good color palette) and things that float (like whatever it is you call that outside of the main container). And really... do we need yet another "POST UR LINKS HERE" site?
  4. I was going to critique the actual business because the prices are awful, but I see this is your client so I'll stick to the design: 1) You need a native English speaker/writer to check the grammar on the entire site. 2) I'd avoid the usage of "we just launched" stuff. People don't want to deal with a brand new company. They want someone that has been around and has proven themselves. 3) What does a power button have to do with a hosting company? The logo just seems off to me. Way too many people are using that power logo. How about something origional? Honestly, it looks like you doctored a template. 4) Dead links. I found more than one. You should fix that. 5) On the menu items where you have a dropdown, the top level menu item should go somewhere. Currently it goes to # or a 404. That's really kind of stupid.
  5. wildteen is correct for the most part but the main reason they got combined is because it was stupid for those of us that were helping to constantly jump back and forth between the two boards to answer questions. Throw in the double posting and "wrong" placement of threads and the extra board really didn't provide any value. I realize that many threads may go unanswered simply because they get bumped far too quickly, but that's one thing we've had to compromise with. I assumed that the addition of some of the specialty boards would take out some of those "advanced" questions to areas that would be better suited to be answered by people specializing in those areas but maybe that's not the case. Either way, I'm personally against separating them again because of the added overhead. I'm not against discussing it between the other mods and admins, however.
  6. It's a moderation-type action so it goes with the moderate type functions. End of story.
  7. You can't. We've disabled that option for members. If it's something that you've solved already, just post that it's solved (and provide your solution so it will help others). I looked at your posts and there's nothing personal or revealing there, so I don't know another reason why you'd want to delete it.
  8. That would mean modifying the core SMF code. Sorry, but no. You can always report them here or in Misc. One of the admins or the mods will pick it up.
  9. charlieholder is probably correct. Just look in your profile and hit "auto detect" and it should set it correctly for you.
  10. Fixed.
  11. Working on it. We just installed a fresh copy of SMF to clean up some other issues. I need to reinstall those themes.
  12. We just installed a fresh copy of SMF. I'll have to update the CSS file again.
  13. Yeah, I meant to add that in the last post. Seems to be fixed.
  14. It's fixed. Wasn't a problem with the client. Locking this since it was a duplicate in the phpfreaks board.
  15. Nope... we don't prune the database ever.
  16. We're working on it.
  17. We're talking about the main site, not the forums. And we're not adding a mod to the boards for bookmarking. Sorry. If you can't manage 2-3 clicks in your browser to bookmark a valuable resource, I feel sorry for you. Imageless CSS skin/theme? Sorry, but we're sticking with the core SMF theme.
  18. It's not a large enough topic to warrant it's own board right now. Just post your questions in the Misc board.
  19. a) The main site is down ... we're redesigning it and it will be back up before long. b) See A. The tutorials have been copied over read-only to the forums. c) The search feature works, but the link may be wrong with various upgrades to the forums. d) Obviously that works. e) That definately needs cleanup. We'll try to clean some of this up as we have time.
  20. There are options in your profile that you can change so that it will email you and pop-up a JS alert when you have a new one... what more do you want? I can set them for you if you want.

I read up on this when it hit a few years ago and the benefits don't necessarily outweight the added burden, IMO. I'm also not a huge flash fan because I'm a proponent of accessibility. Good luck if you really stick with it.
  22. Agreed. I really don't think you can write standard SQL statements that will span all DBMSs. It's unfortunate but true.
  23. *smack* No! Don't feed the animals!
  24. We've got a design picked out and integration efforts with SMF are under way. Things are moving along but we're still a little ways off.
  25. www.active-domain.com is the site I use... prices are pretty standard there.
