  1. Looks perfect to me.
  2. I like the previous one.
  3. ok then... moving.
  4. 10x better.
  5. I'll give it a 5/10. Where it lacks: 1) you need padding... everywhere. The header and footer have plenty of space and then the content is so packed together. Let it breathe! 2) Styling of the content is very basic... not very origional and very box-ish. I'm guilty of this myself in some of my designs, but I expect better from others 3) Needs more color. Throw the blue around some more. 4) You can barely read the words under the site header. It also wouldn't hurt to make the header image MUCH bigger. 5) Lose the underline in the tabs 6) contact us page needs padding and why take input if you're not going to collect at least an email address so you can respond? 7) Some pages (privacy policy) have a box around the content. Others don't have that. I say lose it.
  6. The main site is way too dark. The logo is somewhat hard to read. I'll go back to my hard and fast rule: few can pull off a black site. This is yet another poor example. The functionality and layout seems to be appropriate and similar to most of the rest of these flash gaming sites. So kudos for rubber stamping a proven track record. I'll pause for you to catch the sarcasm.
  7. Who told you to post it on this board? Critiques are for looks and functionality, not reviewing code. I'd move the thread now but I want to know who told you to put it here first to make sure I'm not stepping on another mod/admin.
  8. Back 1 for sure. Not sure I see the value in double sided, however.
  9. Out of the 3 I'd go with the first one. I'm not overly crazy about any of them.
  10. Thanks for the feedback: 1) I agree with you. I'll play around with the styling on bullets. 2) I completely agree... just wasn't sure where to go with it. I have a bug in my sub-nav right now that was supposed to highlight the background of the subnav in white as well, but I haven't fixed that. I'm not sure what you mean about the red line. Can you clarify? 3) The new product is a single product that the owner changes through the CMS. I could add a small graphic in the corner like you say... I'll run it by him. 4) That will have a random video... I disabled some of that while I was testing. Agreed on the simple link. I'll change that. 5) I'm inclined to leave that as-is unless the client says otherwise. 6) I was going to play with that when I fixed all the other stuff... it's on my list 7) Agreed. Most of the content is a carry-over from the old site and I haven't gotten around to cleaning that up yet. Agreed and I will do that if Godaddy's site allows it. 9) I wrote the CMS from scratch. If you want to check it out, you can find it here: http://www.whproductions.com/daedalus/ demo/demo is the username/password. That version doesn't tie to any sites, so you can play with it as much as you want. I've been tinkering with it for a while now and there may still be bugs, but that's the basics of what I have so far. I'm still developing modules for it, but that one is my "development" version.
  11. I don't really see the value in that, personally. I'd say PM the user instead. The "count" sounds like the karma system we disabled for many good reasons.
  12. Good points. - Not sure what is causing that gap at the top... will look into that. - Everything in the "new product" section is controlled by the owner of the site. He enters that through my CMS. I'll talk to him about changing the color of the non-link items. - Agreed on the search box padding and will do on the form controls width - I did remove that at one point and it just didn't look right. I'll play with it again but I'm inclined to leave it as-is. - I'm aware that some of those are missing. I have a few submenu indicators missing in my CMS that I need to clean up. Actually now that I think about it, I think it's just the structure of a few of the links that point to the quote system. - I'm completely aware of the gap at the bottom but not sure what to do about it - I think I may just leave it as-is. - Again, I'm aware of it but not too concerned about it. Thanks for the feedback!
  13. I agree with you on the whitespace... I'll probably increase it. I'm trashing that flv player I found ... it's decent but doesn't have volume controls. The problem with the new one I bought is that it doesn't seem to accept paths to the videos/skins/source files. You have to have everything in one place. Do you mind if I email/PM you to get more details? The width thing might be an issue. As long as you have volume controls (that I can set before startup), I will really consider it. I'm glad you posted! Good point on the selects... I need to do that. The video should play in the nav bar but not on the full video page. And the number of videos is dependent on which category you're in. There are only a few videos in some of the categories. Any other feedback?
  14. http://www.americanbeautytools.com/v2 This is a redesign I've been working on. Origional can be found here: http://www.americanbeautytools.com/ (obviously). I didn't do the origional design and it's taken me a lot of work to get it fixed up. It's not completely done but is getting very close: Known issues: 1) video doesn't work - I'm swapping video players and having loads of issues doing so. 2) IE bug on some pages forces content down below left menu (I forget the CSS trick to get around that) 3) Quote system is not finished There's probably a few others but I figured I'd head off the big ones. Thoughts?
  15. Yeah, that's true. I forgot about that.
  16. This is not specific to this board. Every board has people that don't read the rules and even if they do read them, they're bound to break them. Honestly, the reason we have the rules is so that we can fall back on them when someone screws up.
  17. Interesting... must have been a short glitch in the DB or a mod reset his post count.
  18. We actually have several active mods that help with the tutorials. The pagination tutorial is very old and should be considered as such. If you'd like to write a new one, you can send it to me and I'd be glad to post it for you. At that point we can disable the old one.
  19. That's what misc is for. Sorry, this is a programming board.
  20. Normally we don't provide full code examples without some work from you. Unless you don't know anything about PHP, we're here to help you when you get stuck with the code, not write it for you. Also, please be careful about using personal/work information about locations and/or phone numbers in the future. I've removed all the references from the thread. It may not bother you, but others could use the information in a malicious manner.
  21. Works here too. What are you typing into your browser? Have you checked your hosts file?
  22. Thanks for the kind words. They seem to be few and far between lately.
  23. I have personally checked the moderation log. There have been no actions against your account whatsoever. Your account is also not in the log of "account deletion approvals". The only option I can see is that someone deleted you directly from the database (only 2 of us can do that and we check with one another before doing so) and the only thread about you in the admin area is about this thread asking if someone can look into it (and we always discuss bans and we never delete accounts). So either you're talking about another board or the server just decided to eat you.
  24. PHPFreaks started because our owner has written a few books and is generally a whiz at this stuff. I'm not sure about the exact start date, but I'm guessing it was around 2003ish. People register everyday to get questions answered and it just continues to grow and grow. We have a solid base of good programmers that answer questions and I thank my lucky stars for them. One of the reasons we are so big is because answers normally come pretty quickly, even to the harder questions. I think anyone that is serious about PHP would feel comfortable here.
  25. Yeah, no problem. I just never thought to add the other compression types. EDIT: fixed.
