For someone used to cPanel, and having a client insist on using GoDaddy (what they were previously using) it's a lot different. Oh, and their site navigation sucks IMO (although they are starting to upgrade it all)

This.  I hate having to go through several windows just to do some simple housekeeping.  I prefer ICDsoft, Bluehost, and just about anyone else with a decent CP.

I have had two dedicated servers and shared hosting with them in the past. I didn't really use the shared hosting much so i can't really say much about that. The dedicated servers performed exactly as expected though. The only problem that I have ever had was setting up a rails app on their shared hosting for a client. That was a real pita but other than I think it is a decent host.

I prefer a terminal with access to the root user :-\

php is not supported on windows for gd.

How did you come to that conclusion?

Not to answer for ardyandkari, but I ran into that problem a couple years ago at my former place of employment.  My boss (who knew nothing of teh intarweb other than games and porn) bought Windows hosting through GoDaddy because he thought he needed a Windows server for web pages to work on a Windows client machine.  When I came in and was told to build our online store, I was shocked to learn that GoDaddy didn't have WAMP support.  If you wanted PHP, you needed their Linux hosting.  We put the store on Bluehost instead.

I know that GoDaddy has since changed that, but in late 2006/early 2007 their Windows servers didn't have PHP installed.

Just taking a look at godaddy's prices and what they have to offerer, I would have to say I would NEVER use godaddy for web hosting. They are too expensive compared to who I use for my hosting needs. I get TONS of stuff, plus with SSH, I can modify my ini file to have my own custom php, and I can also install my own software on their machines, such as imagemagick (but they already have that installed) ffmepg (already installed as well) but if it wasn't installed I could install either one, and anything else.

I have 50 times the amount of file storage, and 18 times the amount of bandwidth. I also have more everything else that they offer, so I see why you would say their hosting sux, because I would agrree on that due to the fact of what my host offers.

I have bough my domains from godaddy all the time, they have a great price, and I have not had any problems. So, this being the case I will always use godaddy. I know my host has a registrar too, but godaddy has so many promotions, that you can get $9.99 domains for $5.99 with there codes, and these happen hundreds of times a year, so that is why I like godady. Their hosting his hideous, but their domain service is amazing.

Unless you point us to your host with this information, I'd say you are full of it.

99.9% of the time when a host offers packages like that they are infact over booking their servers and are banking on the fact that a large majority of their clients will never use 10% of what is alloted. I know this from personal and professional experince. There is really no way that a company could make any money(or least not enough to make the hassle worth it) by offering that amount of services and not over book their servers. Most companies that do not have an oc-38 connection or higher pay between $10 and $30 per mbs per month. So there is really no way that they could offer 3000gb (10mbs)monthly transfer to a shared hosting client and stay in business.
